Baggage fee's for checking Liquor on Delta?

Post by ChappyIsland »

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this board, I’ve been using TA until I found this board. I feel it’s only fitting that my first post be a question about transporting booze.

I’ve read many conflicting stories about transporting booze from STT to Boston so I was hoping someone could clarify or possibly provide the phone number to the local STT Delta office as they keep giving me the run around.

My plan is to buy 6 bottles of Cruzan from Kmart, have them box it and check it at the delta kiosk. My question is whether or not they are going to charge me for the booze as if it were a checked bag. . . any help? (We will not be checking any other bags; we’ll just have carry-on’s)

I know United and American don't charge. Also you can buy another six in the airport and carry it on you are passed customs and tsa.

Hello, welcome, my only experience has been with American, they let me just carry it on, although I had only 2 bottles...

I did notice last time I was leaving STT that the traveler in front of me had what looked like 8 bottles, they were in those handy carry boxes, they made them check them on the ramp where you would check a stroller/wheelchair etc.
