One or two day Jeep rental in season
One or two day Jeep rental in season
Wife and I are doing a BVI/St John trip at the end of January and I really don't need or want a Jeep for the entire time of the St John portion of the trip but a day or two would be nice. Since most rent for a 5 day minimum or more during High Season, I was wondering if anyone has ever had any luck renting one for a day just as a "walk in" type customer - getting one that's inbetween rentals?
I think that enjoying STJ without a vehicle really depends on where you're staying (and your lifestyle). There were a couple of times when we've been able to find a jeep for a day or two by just walking up. Never tried it in peak season, though. A couple of thoughts:
--while there's a chance, there's no guarantee that you'll
find one, so it'd be wise to have a Plan B. And if you can't turn up one, will you be okay with the time you'll spend on a fruitless search when you could have been doing any number of other things?
--would not being able to get a jeep for a couple of days be such a disappointment that you'd want to consider renting one for the full week? You'd like a jeep for a couple of days, but if that's not possible, would you go with no jeep or a jeep for a week.
If you do decide to hunt for a vehicle, what we did was get into Cruz Bay early (that means early) and just walk around to the different agencies.
