Hotel booked in NYC but need more advice?

Post by Hawaii »

Hi - Thanks for everyone's help you guys are all awesome. We booked the Courtyard by Marriott/Midtown East. It gets really great reviews and I have a Marriott rewards card. The times square hotels were just too high for this time of year. The rate I am paying is 416.00 so we will travel to NYC Friday morning and leave sometime Saturday evening. We have tickets for Christmas Spectacular Radio City at 7pm Friday so looking for suggestions on where to eat that is not too expensive. Has anyone stayed at this hotel or know the area? We will walk to as much as we can as long as it is not too cold. I am told that Times Square is within walking distance and I believe Radio City? Thanks for any help.

What kind of food and do you want to be close to RCMH? , Closer to your hotel?
thy aren't that far apart, but those cross town blocks are long ones...

loria - I am thinking we would have an early dinner before the 7:00 show but it could also be a late lunch. Does not really matter if it is by the hotel or Radio City as long as we have enough time to get to the show. Our kids are 10 and 14 and will eat almost anything. Not a fancy restaurant but a sit down where we maybe can get a drink for the adults. We like american, japanese, italian you name it we are pretty easy. We will also probably eat lunch the next day before we leave.

On east side on 49th between 2nd and 3rd we have enjoyed upscale Mexican seafood at Pampano. Check out their menu and comments on yelp.com to make sure it floats your boat. Like many of the pricier places, lunch (served til 2:30) is a better deal. http://www.richardsandoval.com/pampano/

Depending on much cross town walking you want to do, two reasonably priced and very good Italian restaurants include Becco (mentioned in the previous thread) at 355 West 46th Street http://becco-nyc.com/ and also Osteria Al Doge at 142 West 44th Street http://www.osteria-doge.com/

Maybe do a later lunch at someplace like these, then before the show go somewhere for coffee, shakes and a big dessert like New York Cheesecake at Juniors near Times Square (touristy fun for the kids) http://www.juniorscheesecake.com/our_re ... es_square/

...or take out dessert from someplace like the Rock Center location of Magnolia Bakery. http://magnoliabakery.com/home.php
