Cape Cod Winter weekend?
We want to take a long weekend up to the Cape this winter. We have done this many times before but this trip will include at least one other couple so we would like to rent a house.
I am having trouble finding a reasonably priced house that rents for less than a week. I understand that there will be a cleaning fee for the short stay, but I just can't seem to find any that work for us.
Does anyone have an suggestions?

Have you checked on weneedvacation.com? That's where John and I found the house we rented over Labor Day and Columbus Day weekends. There are not too many pictures on the site, but that agency reps a ton of houses on the Cape.
I can't recommend the house we rented to you for your weekend, only because the owners are living there through the winter.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
You can check out capecodare.com the company is Cape Cod Associates Real Estate. I noticed that they had some winter openings I'm surprised because I thought most owner's would "winterize" their homes. These homes would be in the Harwich Area (Exit 9) right before the elbow. It is a 45 minute ride to P-town and about 30 minutes from the Sagamore Bridge.

We love to travel and visit many different locations for many different reasons. Some places we did not have the greatest of experiences but will still consider returning knowing that we may have missed the charm of that place. There are two destinations that I refuse to return to because of our experience there. One of them is Provincetown. We did have a lovely visit to Cape Cod however.

Toes, I'm wondering why you didn't like Provincetown. We LOVED it. To us, it almost seems a little bit like Key West without the warm temperatures.
We been there 3 times and we had a great time. The food, the streets and the history keeps us going back.
(We also have friends that have a cottage in Harwich, so that helps

We have been to the Cape many times and for this trip we really want to stay in a house.
It is a trip to connect with friends and a b&b will not give us the experience we are looking for.
We love the Cape and Provincetown, can't imagine not liking it, but I think it us part of being a New Englander.

We liked the whale watching trip from Provincetown, we enjoyed the shops and resturants and art galleries. We were told in no uncertain terms that we were not welcome there by at least part of the communinty. I can take a hint and will not return. Prior to our leaving we cancelled an order to have two prints delivered to our home and returned a beautiful glass dolphin and globe to the store we purchased it from. It had nothing to do with us not being new englanders.

I asked her if she'd rent for a weekend, and she said that she would. If you'd like to email her, you can reach her at jenniferz at madriver dot com
