Leinster/Waterlemon Cay Trail

Post by Steve S »

We used to hike as far as we could go out past Leinster Beach and Johnny Horn Trail all the way out to some big rocks in the water and entered here to snorkel out to Waterlemon. Last couple of times we have entered at the beach for the long swim. Two weeks ago we tried to hike out to the rocks and I guess the trail has grown in because we could only get within 50 yds or so of the rock. Has that trail grown in without clearing or were we there at just a very high tide?

we hiked out to where a small white sandy beach ended, then we went into the foilage and there was a trail that kept going closer to the cay.

We have always hiked around to rocks to swim directly to middle. I've often wondered about stopping at beach and swimming over. Would you compare the length of that swim to Salt Pond swimming out past buoys to rocks in middle which barely are surfaced? That, by the way, was a huge surprise to see how deep it is below and that's where we saw amazing spotted rays!
