Hi There,

Calypso Del Sol gets very good reviews and people seem to consider it an extremely nice, comfortable, well stocked villa, and Alessandra is very often cited as the favorite of several discerning, hardcore STJ forum members, so you really can't go wrong whichever you choose.
Personally, between the two, I'd pick Alessandra, the deciding factor being the view.
The higher southwest facing view gives you sunsets over St Thomas, as well as the beautiful lights at night, and the pool and hot tub are right out front and center of that view.
Calypso is a lower elevation and the sunset view is over the Maria Bluff area and the west side of Chocolate Hole, and if I'm not mistaken, the pool is on the side of the house. Also very nice, but I'm just a sucker for that "in your face" STT view.

Mary Beth, forum name mbw1024, stayed at Calypso in 2009 and wrote a review in the STJ villa review section.
She is fabulous, super sweet person and has great taste as well. I'm sure she'd be happy to answer any questions about it.

Best wishes and have a fantastic time, whereever you end up. 8)

Thanks to all of you for your help! We decided to go with Alessandra for the view and various other reasons. I am sending in paperwork tomorrow and am quite nervous. Intellectually I know the house is not the big deal, as I am always on the beach, but it is different because first time taking grown up kids and not staying at Gallows.

On a different note, yippee-can't wait to go back and get in that turquoise water.

Thanks again.
