Villa for two suggestions?

Post by bdkane »

Hi All,

I'm considering a little "surprise" get away for me and the wifey for this coming year, mid Feb - end of March, this will be or first time on STJ without kids in tow , ill miss them - but I will survive!

Anyhow, I'm looking for a villa for just the two of us, based on the fabulous reviews I am considering either Casa Bueno or Reef Madness, (we do need a pool)

Just wondering if anyone has any input on these or any other suggestions as the availability of both are limited at this time. Some preferences would be a pool, possibly a hot tub, prefer Coral Bay or somewhere mid island, a/c in at least the bedroom,

Thanks :)

We stayed at Summer Wind which shares the little private drive with Casa Buena. I loved it for two people. Very nice master suite, pool (chilly), hot tub, complete privacy.

One note - unless it's heated, Casa Buena probably has a chilly pool too. It's breezy up on that mountain.

We love Casa Bueno and staying mid island. The pool only has the late morning sun but there really is no need to use the a/c because the breezes are great up there!

Casa Bueno is perfect in every way. Pool is solar heated and was very warm when we were there in June, almost too warm a few times. House is beautiful quiet and totally private.

Miles Away gets consistently good reviews for couples. Also Sopra Mare looks nice to me for a small property.

Sorry, I should have read your post more closely! Both my suggestions are over on the Cruz Bay side.

One concern I did have was the breeze and the general temperature up on the "mountain", Ive been told it gets chilly and noticed some of the villas actually have fireplaces(REALLY?) I've only been to STJ in the summer months, I'm not sure if it wouldn't be too chilly in Feb or March for my wife, she generally doesn't hit the pool in NY until water temp is a balmy 90 degrees...

I appreciate the villa suggestions in Cruz Bay as well, but again, I have only been to STJ in the summer months and never experienced much "traffic", Im concerned it may be a little busy- by STJ standards over in the city that time of year...

Thank again for the suggestions -

I would have to agree with petepie, for two people miles away is absolutely beautiful. Gigi and I stayed there when I was recovering from surgery and the house and pool are perfect. Casa Bueno is also a beautiful place to stay. The owners of both houses take great pride in their homes and try to have everything for the guests that stay there. More sun at Miles Away, Fantastic Views at Casa Bueno. Two great houses. We will be at Casa Bueno in 9 days ( but who is counting )and we are looking forward to the peace and tranquility this house has to offer.

Hello. I just looked at Miles Away rental company (Destination St. John)
This villa has the calendar marked off as not available for all of 2012
Does anyone know if it is for sale or sold? Thanks so much. I was going
to recommend it as well.

My short list for a trip for two is Spellbound http://cateredto.com/spellbound/. Or Gibney Beach Cottage.

Diana2 - You were such a help to us when we rented Summer Wind. Thank you! Do you know how the pool temp runs at Spellbound? Thanks.

Look at the Peter Bay Gatehouse--We have stayed there several times and is perfect for two people. The hot tub is beautiful with a great view.
