Each trip, we MUST go to Cuzzin's on St. Thomas. Today was the day.
We got up around 8am, I had the usual breakfast, we showered up, and we were able to make the 11:15 to STT. We parked the jeep at STJ Car Rental. (Another reason why we like renting from here - free in-town parking!)
So we got to STT and headed straight to Cuzzin's, after being "accosted" by people trying to get us to go into their stores, of course. Leave us alone! We're on a mission!
I enjoyed the veggie plate - fungi, rice and peas, sweet potato casserole, and plantains - as did my husband. We also enjoyed conch fritters, OF COURSE...they are the reason we go here annually.

Craziest thing happened while at Cuzzin's. I suppose a "local" was having lunch, which consisted of conch fritters and a salad. Well, she got the salad first, and complained to the waitress about it. Then she got the conch fritters and basically lost it. She yelled at the waitress, "Who do you think you're fooling?!? There's no conch in here! Maybe you're fooling tourists, but you're not fooling me!!" So the [sweet and very patient] waitress took away the conch fritters and the lady ordered a sandwich instead. We later saw her going into the Diamonds International store. Guess where we WON'T ever shop.... And sure, there's not a TON of conch in the conch fritters, but really....really?!? Get over yourself, crazy lady.
We walked around to a few stores afterwards, but honestly, we just weren't feeling it. We just bought a new home, and we're trying to not spend money so we can furnish it, so....that equates to no shopping.
We ended up taking the taxi to Red Hook for the 2pm ferry, and we were back at the cottage at 3. (Okay, this detour to STT cost us WAY too much with the ferry rides, taxi fares, etc...but Cuzzin's was worth it.)
It was SO HOT today, so we ended up renting a movie from the store at the Marketplace, and just relaxed the rest of the day.
We had turkey sandwiches, hummus, and ice cream bars for dinner. My husband fixed a concoction of diet cranberry juice, crystal light lemonade, and strawberry rum for us to enjoy. YUM, and not too terribly bad calories / fat wise!
I fell asleep around 10.
No fear - tomorrow is much more exciting.
