Have you ever shopped at www.intothebluevi.com It is that liitle shop in Cruz Bay by Paradise Cafe. They have the coolest stuff. I havae my eye on a few things/ to pick up when I am there. I love the rings.
Wontongirl, that place is wonderful! I love jewelry and the joke on any of my trips is that my friends are supposed to keep me OUT of jewelry stores. Found this place upon leaving the Beach Bar one night...next thing I know, I've bought a bracelet, pendant/necklace and earrings all in pearl...they were wonderful to me. Got some other things, too. Really a nice little shop where you can get some great gifts.

Sorry, off the topic. Jewelry on the island - I wear my wedding band and engagment rings (which wouldn't be classified as bling either!), my hook bracelet and my 3-knot bracelet - took the watch off on day 1 and only put it on as we were leaving..I love hoop earrings, so that's about it. I have diamond studs, but have already lost them once, so that's a no-no now.

It's funny that you posted this when you did because just yesterday afternoon I ordered a fake wedding set from QVC. It's white gold and Diamonique, and at only $70 it'll be much less risky in STJ.

I wear my wedding ring and engagement ring every day, but my husband always insists that I leave my engagement ring at home when we go to STJ...which makes me feel naked while we're there...he actually wants me to leave my wedding band at home too (it has 3 stones in it), but I can't go completely naked on my ring finger, so I just wear my band.

But from now on I'll have a fake wedding ring and a fake engagement ring just for STJ :)

My hand feels weird now if I don't wear my engagement ring and wedding band, so I don't leave them at home.

My fingers do get smaller in cold water, and sometimes the stones on the ring make it spin around a bit when loose, so I put the engagement ring on first and the band on top of it. If they start to feel loose, then next time I go in I'll put a band-aid over them with the fuzzy part over the stones. That also eliminates the glimmer for the fish. (They've never slipped past the knuckle, even in water cold enough to require a wet suit.)

I like to wear a watch too, so on vacations I bring a cheap waterproof Timex. (Bought it for ref'ing soccer as it has a timer... easily replaced.) It gets alittle foggy after a few days in the water, but then clears up.

A diving glove sounds like a good idea. I'm assuming they're stretchy enough so that the rings don't feel smushed into your hand? (I cut a hole in my golf glove because I couldn't stand that tightness of the glove over the stones. The guys laugh at me, but I'd rather have a hole in my glove than take off my rings and lose them!)

I always wear my wedding and engagement ring everywhere, so the islands are no different. Actually, as I have gotten older and had three kids, its a BIT tighter than when I was a size 1. So, I am not worried about it falling off- my fingers swell in the heat too. I would not go on vacatin without it. That said, I don't bring any other (really) expensive jewelry, just a few pairs of cute earrings. I like to have a laid-back attitude and not stress about things like turning my diamond around.
