Villa Review - Calypso Cove, Fish

Post by greyhoundmom »

We were there in June. After much thought, not really wanting to write it, I know it is a fair portrayal of our expereince. I tried to be positive, but it was hard.

I think your review is fair minded. others should be properly informed offend pluses and minuses. I had a similar experience several years ago at a different place and I later learned that improvements where made. So this may have an effect on the owners.

Thank you for your honesty. I wrote an honest but negative review of a villa years back and it created a bit of a stir. (The villa has since left the rental pool.) Forum members appreciate hearing the experiences of others be they positive or negative.

It's unfortunate to have to be the bearer of bad news, but it is appreciated by those who are considering renting. Sometimes, reviews like yours can put a fire under the management/owner's bottom to get things in shape.

We almost rented a home on the water this trip, and after reading a few reviews about the bugs we decided against it. Reviews are so important in helping other travelers have a great vacation and you shouldn't feel bad about it!

Thank you for the replies. I tried to post an honest, although not entirely postive about this villa. Perhaps some stir about it will motivate management to spruce it up. Someone that we know in Cruz told me in June to post but I was sitting on it, hoping to see if someone else had stayed and posted a review. It is what it is....the honest opinion of both the good and not so good. :(

It was 3600 for 9 days. A semi-budget but still not a drop in the bucket...but I guess for STJ in June, a bargain!

I appreciate the honest review and am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at the villa. Whether your budget is large or small, there are choices within each cost bracket, so it's good to know about those properties that have disappointed others - and the specific reasons for the disappointment. Thanks for posting it!

We had looked at that house for a past trip, the location on the water always appealled to me. Our trip was two couples + our son and someone on the forum had given me a heads up about the ground floor room being much less desirable than the master.

I think it was a fair review. Information like screening that lets in skeeters, a portable AC unit (as opposed to split or window units) and deferred maintenance issues is valuable to people when making rental decisions.

I chose to do a rather unflattering review once. I had hoped the management company, or better yet the owners, would read it. I tried to be fair but at the same time didn't want to candy coat the truth. I look at reviews all the time and appreciate honest opinions. There are certain things you can't ignore...bed bugs, filthy pools, torn screens, broken stereos or dishwashers. I bet most forum members appreciate the information.
