So I've been dying to ask how villa living was with newbies? I know it was a concern for you before the trip. Any recommendations for what to do/not to do to all get along and pitch in?
And, how was it with two vehicles? Were you happy to have your own jeep, or would one large vehicle sufficed?

Tickerless

Sanddollar, we were actually home in time for the earthquake and Irene. The only other time I have experienced an earthquake was on St. John!
Mnfun2be me, the pictures were taken with either a Canon D10 or a Canon G12, both above and underwater. Of the two I prefer the G12.
Pickle, no more Disney trips is exactly what I am hoping for!
Gottoget away, the villa was just fine. John and I paid for the trip, so there wasn’t any discussion over who got what room etc. We assigned people their spaces. Same thing with chores. I assigned people their tasks at the beginning of the trip. Everyone pitched in based on their ability and interests. Nobody complained and everyone helped out. I guess my recommendation would be to let people know in advance what it is that you are expecting them to do to help keep things running smoothly. That prevents resentment.
The two vehicles worked out great. Even though we were usually in the same place, having the two jeeps allowed for some separation: like the day that the guys snorkeled Great Lameshur while everyone else was at Little Lameshur. And of course, when I got a flat tire at Gibney, having the second car meant that we were not stranded at the beach. Plus two vehicles= more room for beach chairs, coolers, etc.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Becky it sounds and looks like such a wonderful trip
:) What fun it must have been for you to share your favorite place with your niece and nephew! I'm amazed that you guys were together for 17 days.....that's a long time. Hoping you and John will get back for like you said, an adult trip!
I'm guessing you've gotten the kids hooked on STJ, most especially snorkeling.
Question: What is Saint John Prime?

This has been a wonderful trip report! I can now tell the difference between a feather duster worm and a lionfish! I don't know how you spot all those octopi either! I'm still not sure I see the one that's hiding in your 2nd picture!
How wonderful for the kids to be introduced to snorkeling by you! You are so incredibly patient and you are able to teach them about the things they are seeing. I bet Callie's mind was blown when she finally saw all that stuff underwater! I'm sure you have 'em hooked now, and like Pickle said, no more Disney trips for you! Yay!
"and I don’t flash in restaurants." - LMAO!

I always enjoy your underwater pictures. They are so clear and you just seem to get amazing things to
take pictures of. Thanks for the info on the pictures too.
