Jewels or No Jewels?
Jewels or No Jewels?
I am sitting here thinking..... OK, I want to wear my wedding ring, I must have a pair of earring's, hair won't go up with out earrings (except while at the beach). Necklaces and high temps just don't get along on my neck. I want to wear an ankle bracelet and some toe rings, again not at the beach.
Do you wear your wedding rings or any jewels while snorkeling or swimming? I guess I am concerned about the Barracuda factor. Will one wedding ring get their attention?
Any good ideas on where to stash the goodies if you tell me not to wear my ring?
I am getting SOOO VERY EXCITED!!

Well, my wife lost a diamond stud earring while snorkeling in Grand Cayman last year.
I don't why she was wearing them...they were an anniversary gift too. She lost it right as we were entering the water from the beach, so we spent the first 30 minutes of "snorkeling" looking for it but to no avail. So replace the diamond studs with CZ.

I go simple when there. My wedding band is simple and I turn it around while snorkeling so that diamonds aren't flashing the fishies ... never been approached by a baracuda & plan to keep it that way. The rest of the stuff I wear all the time here comes off in STJ -- the watch, the necklace, etc. I just can't go without the wedding band. I feel like I'll jinx it or something

I always wear my wedding ring and my watch and I never had a problem. My diamond isn't that big though (we were poor when we got married).I stopped wearing a necklace though for fear that it would look like a lure.
I always wear small earrings and I wear inexpensive ones because I have lost those before.

I take my watch, wedding ring and ring I wear all of the time on my right hand. The rest is costume jewelry ro wear out at night if I wear any at all. I take very little. I took my wedding ring to get sized yesterday. I has gotten really loose and I was afraid if i did forget and wear it to the beach that it would come off my finger. If the villa has a safe I usually leave it there. If not I just wear the watch and rings and turn them around on my finger when I am snorkeling.
I wear the same stuff on St. John that I wear at home. Wedding ring on the left hand, engagement ring on the right (my fingers are too small to hold both rings on the same hand), and a St. John hook bracelet. I will say though, that my engagment ring would not qualify as "bling." We were broke when we got engaged and it is a small stone in a bezel setting, so it is very low key.
If I had a diamond in a solitaire setting or something really sparkly, I personally would just leave it at home. If your ring is in a prong setting, I would not wear it in the water--what if you lose the stone?
The only other jewelery I bring are funky necklaces made with glass beads that my coworker makes for me. Nothing valuable at all.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
