Leaky Canon D10

Hi Everyone - I know there have been several forumites that have had to return their Canon D10s because of leaking. Just returned from 12 days in SJ, and on about day 10 - yes, a leaky D10. Prior to that, the camera took about 300+ lovely photos

Can someone send me the address of where to return the camera, and any advice is welcome - the camera is just a year old. I purchased it from Amazon, but think I need to return it directly to Canon. Many thanks.
BTW - GREAT 12 days - weather terrific, beaches beautiful, food fantastic...

Been there, done that!!! Returned my first one and got another.....they said they would fix it but they actually replaced it due to "internal water damage". Had a problem with #2 but it came back to life. Gotta admit, I'm kind of scared to take it in the water...but I will!! Will try another brand after this one

They replaced mine and it was out of warranty by about 6 months. It was very upsetting to me died on 2nd day of vacation. I have a new one but like others have said fear taking it snorkeling. I am thinking about buying another brand as a backup as I love to take snorkeling photos. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi - I bought a Olympus TG-610 for our trip in July. We had no problems and I bought it for about 50 dollars less then the Canon. The quality out of water was very clear and I thought it did a good job in the water after using Picasa to clear up the fuzziness. You can take a look on my trip report for some of the under water pictures and also some others, I did use another camera for some of our other shots. You may have to scroll down to find my reports as I do not know how to post them all together yet - still learning. The pictures that I posted were before I used Picasa because my son has it on his computer and I still can not figure out how to do it. Hope this helps.

I have not one, but two flooded D10s. One from this trip and one from February's trip. I am sending one back tomorrow for repair/replacement and will report back on how it goes. I was afraid to send both at once.

Both cameras that flooded were John's. I think this model can easily leak around the seal of the battery/memory card--it looks like it is well sealed when it is not. My D10 is still operational after five underwater vacations. However, I always press all around the seal before bringing it into the water. John's not as obsessive as me.

Just wondering if you are rinsing the camera with fresh water or doing anything special to maintain it? I wonder if the salt water is eating away at some of the seals.

I just bought one...should be here tomorrow. I hope it lasts me while I'm down there.

We always put our D-10 in a bowl of fresh water for an hour after returning from the beach. Hope not to be jinxing, but we've done really well so far.

we've had ours for over a year now, and it's been great (knock on wood)....That would be 4 vacations and tons of times in the pool.....not bad!

My D10 hasn't failed yet. It replaced an Olympus 1030 that lasted 45 seconds underwater. I rub the seals with silicone before each snorkel outing as an extra precaution. If this one fails me, I'll shell out and graduate to a real underwater housing.

Had a flooded D10, still well under warranty, and received a "refurbished" replacement. When we arrived in Grand Cayman two weeks ago, it wouldn't work due to a "lens error" - no matter what I tried. (And I tried many times.) After I got home it worked again.

No one from Canon could explain it. I'm sending it back (still less than a year since I ordered it new) and want something different. This is ridiculous!!

If you're considering a new underwater camera, stay away from the Canon D10!

Mine completely flooded when I took it in the pool for 30 seconds in 6 inches of water (they replaced it). My friend's flooded on the firt day of her vacation in T&C. I won't buy another Canon underwater camera. But I do love the D10's settings and will keep it as long as it lasts but next one will be a Sony or Nikon. Our old Olympus flooded too but our fieind's have said they are now much improved. Hopefully Canon will do some much needed improvements on the D10 as well. It's a shame because I love teh camera aside from the fact I am scared to take it in the water, which is why I bought it in the first place!
