Day Two - Trip Report

Post by Hawaii »

We all got up pretty early this morning. Did our usual breakfast routing and headed off to the beach. Today our first beach of the day was Jumbie and I knew from reading Feet, fins and four wheel drive we had to be their early to score a spot. In the book it said there were only 3 or 4 spots but when we got there I think I counted 4 and then another 2 separated from each other. We had no problem with getting a spot only two other cars were there.

I loved the beach but it was a little choppy today or it could be that we are really inexperienced snorkelers. We tried to snorkel but was just too rough. We did watch other people that were there too and it looked like they were having a hard time too or maybe they just wanted to make us feel better. The kids played in the water and I just took in the view it was so nice. We did not see any fish on this day but I did bring the underwater camera. Before we left I waited to long for the Canon D10 and ended up with the TG-610 and I do like the camera so far. This is our first underwater so I really have nothing to compare with but it was cheaper then the Canon.

After a few hours we left and went to Cinnamon Bay where we ate lunch and then went down to the beach. We had a brief shower as we did for most of the week at some point during the day and even night. I think Cinnamon is a beautiful beach but a little more populated then the others which was fine.

Off we went to snorkel and the water here was very clear. We did not see much so took a rest. On our second try we found some beautiful coral and of course fish too. Again, we are first time snorkelers so we did not venture out very far. At this point our son decided that he was the camera expert and from this point I did not get to use the camera much. Next trip he will get a cheap underwater to use so we have two.

Ok - This is where it is starting to get fuzzy - I think we had a drink before we left but I know I was starting to get in the Island mode of breakfast, beach, lunch/drinks/beach, drinks -repeat or something similar to this. We usually did not drink before snorkeling we were just not that good yet

I am sure we went back to the villa had another drink and the kids probably went swimming at least that is what I am going with!! I do remember we had alot to eat at Cinnamon bay (big burgers) so we just had sandwiches for dinner. Tomorrow would be our son's 14th birthday - poor kid had to spend it on STJ.

Love Day 2...
okay 1 more day and you have me beat...

Have you tried Picasa Web to see if you can clear your photos some? Last year mindehankins suggested I try what Sun4MySoul suggested to her and it worked wonders for my photos: Download a program called Picasa Web from Google. It's free. After you download it, you use Picasa Web to open your photos, and with one click of a button that says (I believe) "I'm feeling lucky", you have an automatically clarified pic. It works really, really well on underwater pics, and not so well on terrestrial pics, so you might want to edit those by hand. Best of luck 8)

Jo - Yes - I did that. You should have seen the pictures before they were terrible. Our first couple of days the water seemed cloudy and thus had very cloudy pictures. Not sure if that was us or the camera. I am still playing around with Picasa but it has made a huge difference in some of our pictures.

Jo - Also having trouble once I edit the pictures and try to post sometimes it goes back to the original picture. Any ideas? I think I have been going to file and then hit save but not totally sure. Will have to get Adam to help again. I know the first picture of the purple thing is edited with Picasa but not sure about the other one.

Coden - They had noodles at our villa. Not sure where you are staying but just email your villa and ask if they have them.
