110 Degrees????

Post by greyhoundmom »

In Columbia today, really?? It is so suffocatingly hot that you can't be outside for very long. I am trying to come home after work and water all the potted plants and spot water the big stuff. Even with the sprinkler system, it is a losing battle? I know you guys are feeling it too. All the great stuff you planted back in March and have nurtured for so long....it is a a difficult to keep it watered and it isn't even August

We had a nice big rain today. My tomatoes were so thankful! Still hot though.
Going "home" again October 26th!

I know, I know...even with all of the rain we had earlier in the spring, and, we are 9 inches above for this time of year, we've emptied our three 50 gallon rain barrels three times and our garden is pretty much kaput now...dry, dry, dry.

So hot and dry here I'm getting to the point of "why bother watering the flowers, they're toast in a month anyway" theory. :(

This is our first summer living in FL and I am thinking this is a great summer so far. Family living in MI,PA,and Baltimore have had higher "feels like" temps than we have recently. I know we have a ways to go til October but so far no complaints. Of course living very close to the ocean/beach helps too.
