R/T Ferry Ticket
R/T Ferry Ticket
When we buy our ferry ticket in Red Hook to come over to STJ - can we buy it as a R/T or only a one way?
Thnx!

We were told last year that the r/t tix were for designated car ferries,so we had to buy a separate return ticket on the way back to STT to catch our plane.
Strangely enough, though, My Sweetheart held onto the ticket for an entire year, and we brought it down with us this past May. Thought we'd give it a try on whichever ferry we got on, and the ticket lady accepted it! She just asked,"Where did you get this?",after we asked if it was still good.(We obviously explained our issue...)
Bonus!
Hopefully you'll have the same luck, but do yourself a favor and get it all straightened out as soon as you get the ticket.
Don't want any surprises!

Do you mean the car ferry or the people ferry? On people ferry I only buy one way. Just in case I want to go to CA on the return. I've seen that some people who use the car ferry only buy one way in case they want to use another ferry service on their return.
Got my STJ earrings on-so I'm slightly packed!!

Silverheels - yes, I meant the pax ferry. The last time we were there we did go back on the CA ferry. I would like to do that but I think it leaves at 11:15 am and we don't want to leave that early, and the next one is to late. Boo-hoo!
Glad you are wearing your STJ earrings!!
Mahojim - thanks for the info. we will certainly ask the question!
Waterguy - Wouldn't that be great to be able to say To Heck with it, we're staying!

You can buy round trip on both car and people ferries. Car barge, if you go on Mister B or General are the same so the ticket works on either. If you do buy a round trip on Boyson (Mister B or General) the ticket is honored for 1 month (on occasion you can get longer out of a return ticket). Captain Vic or Roanoke are also honored together and I don't believe they have an expiration. If you are not time inhibited you can just wait for your barge to come depending on which one you bought your round ticket for.
People ferry r/t ticket is for the same route, not valid for downtown fare when returning to STT. You can take the ferry any time of day on your return.
Round tickets on both, car/people, are less expensive.

turqsea - it's interesting you say roundtrips are less expensive on the people ferry - when I buy a round trip it is always $12.00 (Red Hook) and the regular price is $6 each way - the only way I know to get it cheaper is to buy the commuter booklet but that won't work for visitors - please let me know your secret
