Family Fun with Some Blips! Trip Report Volume 2

Post by Jen East End »

Day 4: We are suddenly awakened by horrible sounds outside of our cottages, several donkeys are there and two of them are literally trying to kill each other. Kicking, biting, trampling the gardens and blood running down their necks. All we could do is watch in disbelief and then someone yelled, “When Vacations Attack!” A good way to lighten the mood but we were all a little shaken up by this event and never went back to sleep. Blip #4. Wild Kingdom should have been there filming. We decided we should keep the gate to the property shut from then on. What to do when you’re upset? Eat of course, so some Kiss of The Jumbie coffee, eggs scrambled with ham and Swiss and good toast. Daughter still not feeling well, had a quiet day on our beach, snorkeled and kayaked. Zach found a fresh coconut and worked very hard to de-husk it then open it. We made shots from the coconut water and ate the fresh coconut.Dinner at Aqua Bistro and very little rain for a whole day. A great relaxing day.

Zach and the coconut de-husking has begun:

The coconut draining:

Shots all around!

Day 5: Dinghy Day drove to Cruz Bay in full sunshine to pick up our dinghy and headed off with great expectations of a perfect day on white sand beaches. Stopped first at Oppenheimer. Guys headed out to snorkel and by the time they returned it was raining. So what do you do? Move to another beach and find the sun. It turned out to be very elusive and we were mostly cold all day. Highlights were stopping at little Maho for fantastic sandwiches and beer from Maho beach camps snack hut and a long float in Mary Creek without the motor just talking and laughing together. Tried to swim at Waterlemon but encountered strong currents and gave up the idea for this year. Decided to go back and turn in the dinghy early because we were all feeling chilled. Returned to Cruz Bay where they informed us it had been sunny all day with no rainfall whatsoever. So what do you do? Hang at the beach bar and have a blast! We warmed up right away and saw a huge iguana on the beach.

Day 6: Stayed at our beach cottages all day. Zach still not feeling well, rash still there, was tired and had little energy. We took advantage of the chance to do nothing. Everyone mellowed, did his or her own thing and we cooked pork Florentine for dinner, again brought that from home.

Oh my, I would have freaked out over the donkeys! I would have done what you did though and just stay up and have some Kiss of Jumbie!! Which is on my shopping list for Ruth's. Yum!

Sorry about everyone being ill. I hope it went away before your vacation was over with.

I love the shot that is partially underwater. What a great idea! And it's so clear underwater. You must have a better camera than my walmart disposable ones!
My only friends are pirates..that's just who I am...

Great trip reports! I hate the fact that you guys are having illness problems! :(

I have always wanted to crack a coconut. I need to try it next time.

I'm with Coden, I would have freaked with the donkeys as well.
