A Small Black Pitt Bull Puppy Named Allah
OK, I just emailed STJ Animal Shelter. Thought I'd put it out there for anyone who is on island now. First, let me say that we are dog people. We fostered retired racing greys for eight years. They were our life. Met carriers on interstates to pick up racers that weren't winning races (young dogs), picked them up. We had fosters for six months before we placed them. We had our own grey for 14 years before we had to put her down. I have a huge heart for dogs.
In Cruz Bay the week of 6/15-6/22 we met a young, charismatic man who had a black pit bull puppy named Allah. Very apparent that his puppy was a magnet for the young ladies. Our 18 year old grads struck up a conversation with him, loved the puppy, and said he looks so hot, do you have any water for him? He said, he is fine. That night when we picked up our car at Slim Man's, the puppy was tied up on the ground next door to the right of Slim's. It was so hot and he was barking, the young man comes out and screams at him to "shut up". We saw the young man, dog and STJ volunteer/employee talking to him and she said, he looks great. As she was walking way, Allah looked at her with longing as if to say, please take me with you. This puppy is not "great". This young man that is either fostering him or adopted him does not treat him well. I don't know the name of the business next to Slim Man's but it broke my heart to see this puppy tied up on the concrete in the hot sun with no water. If you are there and see him, please call the shelter. This pup is not getting a good break and does not need to be with yhis young man.

oh god.....i hate that. makes me want to go bust knee caps. really. with bats. metal ones..they don't give as much.....
have you contacted ACC? is there anything they can do? It sounds like a pretty hopeless situation for this poor dog unless someone witnesses extreme cruelty or the guy gives the dog up....oh yuck....

Loria, I posted to ACC before I posted here. Especially since their volunteer/employee was over that afternoon giving him a treat and said he looked great. I thought, maybe you know something that I haven't seen. That was not true. Really sad. My S/O says that the animals will be my downfall. He knows my heart and kids me but he knows when I am ready to find a solution to an animal problem.
I know, I need an intervention.

no, you don't need an intervention,. i cannot stand the thought of someone leaving a puppy tied up alone with nothing to drink--that is torture--that puppy needs an intervention (or the puppy's person needs an 'intervention'.

My hope is that forum people on island now or soon come will walk over and take a look. I felt like I was leaving a child in a bad situation. I hope the ACC will respond to my email. They are so close. It was one of those times when I didn't do what I should have done because everyone told me to chill. They knowme and know I can be dramatic. This was one time I should have gone with it.

Sounds like somebody has checked up on his condition.
