Bug protocol...Viatek - 2nd endorsement
Thanks to whoever recommended Viatek!!!
We just returned and they were bad but not awful.
My partner is a mosquito/bug magnet and escaped almost unscathed due to the following protocol:
Viatek Mosquito Shield Bands one on each wrist and ankle (ordered from Amazon) as suggested -- another was looped from her ball cap during the day -- none of this a fashion statement but very effective. She did try to color co-ordinate them!
Prophylactic / preventive daily doses of Benadryl
Dabbing each bite with Benadryl ointment as soon as possible after each bite
It was the most successful bug trip we've had!
I have NO business interest in either product!

We don't have any financial interest in any of these products either, but we used them all week. I did not find the Viatek in any stores, but found 2 different brands in CVS. They are in a coil shaped bracelet and come sealed in a package. We each wore one at time. One brand claims to be good for 100 hours and another for 200 hours. I am not aware of any bites since we got here except the day my wife forgot to put hers on. We sat on the porch of Luna Vista with our host last week. We had them on and she did not. We did not have a single mosquito around us and she was surrounded. That's hardly a scientific study, but it's enough for me to continue to buy them.

WOW this sound downright encouraging to a no see sum target. Leaving for 13th trip to St John and this time taking three grown kids and spouses. Since we jump on the plane had to act fast to order these since we have no CVS's in Colorado. Ordered 12 (1 order = 12 bands)on Amazon.com and hit the fast delivery button.
Here is a medical question "I have a pregnant daught er in law who is coming along and knows she can't use Deets plus she draws the biters like I do. Do you think these are safe for her to use in her condition?
Thanks,

USVI and BVI are my favorite places to travel
I'm pretty sure they are safe for PG or even PG-13 women. My sister is rated R and she wore them with no problem. Of course she wore them on her ankles, not on her wrists.jimg20 wrote:I believe the bands would be safe for a PG woman. The label says they are primarily citronella. Ask your OB what he/she thinks. It can't be any worse than infected mosquito bites.

The liver is evil, it must be punished!

Deet and chemical free. Scented with pine, lavender and peppermint which basically camos the carbon dioxide coming from your body which is what the biters are attracted to. And Coden, you can swim with them, does not lessen the effect. I should buy stock in this item as everyone I have given them to loves them. Laura
You must be the change you want to see in the world
