I am suffering from PVDD

Post by Xislandgirl »

Post Vacation depression Disorder.

I can't seem to get motivated to write more of my trip report. I look at all the posts on the board and I don't have anything fun to say so I don't respond. I am so miserable that I actually skipped the gym tonight and made a very fattening dinner.

Does anyone else go through this? I know that booking another trip will help but we will not be heading back to STJ next year as Chip is planning a super secret surprise vacation for my 40th next August.

I promise to finish my report soon and I will be back to my old self, I just need to get out of this funk.

XIG, I know exactly what you mean; I definitely get PVDD!

The first 3 or 4 days back at my desk, I just keep muttering, "I can't believe I'm not on a beach."

Having another trip on the calendar certainly helps. This is the first year, we'll be making two trips. I wonder how soon before 2 is not enough. As with any addiction, you just gotta have more and more. :?

oh X, that's cute! Aren't you excited to think about what he might be planning? Any ideas?
Charlie planned Key West for my 40th. He actually booked the hotel from STJ :) The MSATER of procrastination! We are on our honeymoon (10/5) and he's figuring out my birthday (10/24) LOL!

It was supposed to be a surprise but I knew it all along! He's the WORST secret keeper!

I have 2 guesses. Either a Mediterrean Cruise or an Alaska Cruise.

Either would be fine with me, but you never know with him. He always has something up his sleeve.

I am glad to know there is a clinical name for what i feel when I come home from St John "Post Vacation Depression Disorder".
No you are not alone, I think we all get it! That is why we come to this support group, to help us muddle through till the next trip! You will be okay again in about another week or until you make plans to return!

I've always thought of it as the "re-entry blues" but PVDD sounds better! :D We all have gone through it. We'll be patient as we wait for further chapters of you trip report. Just know that we're here for ya'. :)

It happens every time - and you know the only cure is to have another trip in the works. Unfortunately I'm still suffering from PVDD... hopefully not for long! I'll go by myself if I have to; whatever it takes to beat this thing! Call me motivated :wink:

Ok...I do have a good idea as I'm completely out of it myself. I planned to do a trip report and a villa report and I am completely not in the mood. Totally bummed.

Let's backtrack...to Cinnamon Bay Beach...it's Sunday, and I'm over my fear of speaking up in public...as I recall, that was the beginning of both our trips.

No, better idea...let's go back and replay that scene...LOL :lol: :lol: We can start vaca all over again... :wink:

Ok, Ok, I know...not gonna happen, but just want you know...don't feel like the lone ranger...I'm just as down as you. :cry:
Hoping for a USVI ticker in 2013!

I usually stay on STJ for a month at a time during the summer and always have PVDD. Actually I have it now and I came back in Feb. after 3 weeks on STJ. I just took a part time job and may have to quit it so that I can go back this summer. That is stressing me out.

XIG and Mary Beth you are both very lucky ladies to have guys that plan vacations. I would be thrilled if DH planned anything!

His contribution to vacation prep goes something like this:
1. He will schedule vaca days w/work;
2. He says, "plan whatever you want";
3. I find a villa, and ask him to look, he says, "book whatever what you want";
4. He gets the suitcases down and says, "pack whatever you want";
5. He sets the alarm clock on wheels-up day.

It works for us. :lol:

well, Pat, Charlie is a lot like that too! Most of the time. He did well with the 40th but it might be a while before he does it again! :)
Before he met me he hadn't taken a vacation in a lonnng time, now at work they say "you are going on vacation, AGAIN???"
Making up for lost time, I say!

Chip loves to travel and he loves to surprise me so I am lucky.

He is also good looking, rich, and owns a house in Peter Bay.....oh wait, I must have dozed off there for a second :P
