Liquor Prices a bargain????
Liquor Prices a bargain????
I am totally confused. I bought a 750 ml bottle of Patron Anejo Tequila at the STT airport for $49.00. I've seen it at Costco and a local liquor store for the same price!! My hubby said it's not worth lugging it on the plane and I argued with him and bought it anyway. Maybe rum is the best deal....duh!! Next time I'll just buy jewelry at Cardow's at the airport instead!

Pat, we don't think it's a bargain because we can buy Cruzan here for $2.00 more per bottle than in the STT airport. Plus, we flew Spirit and they are the only airline that counts your liquor box as an extra carry on and they will charge you for it. Several years ago when Cruzan was $6.99 a bottle and we were flying US Air and each person could carry on a six bottle box, it was a bargain. They even let my son through (he was 19) with a box! It was a nice way to stock the liquor cabinet. I just wish our state distributed the VI Pale Ale. I'd be all over the Mango!!! I think my bro/sis-in-law in FL can buy it there.

The prices for Patron in the VI are the same as at home. They must not want to give Mexico any business.
All other liquor are almost half of what we pay in NY.
Not out of Grey Goose yet-but I won't make it to February..
Also- picked up an extra bottle at airport-
Flor de Cana rum- 12 year very nice..
Scoob

Pat,
Enjoy your Patron, not for the savings but rather for the wonderful memories it invokes each time you pour from the bottle! It sure was nice to meet you!
This girl got a little sticker shock the weekend after we got back while hanging on the boat in Alexandria Bay, NY (1000 Islands). Went to the local liquor store to continue my Pineapple Cruzen Rum habit and nearly choked on the pricing! $18.95 for the same size bottle we were paying $9.95 on St John for! OUCH! Must admit, the girl bought it anyways, it was a need I had going! Happy 4th of July to my American Friends and Happy Cananda Day to my Friends north of the border....

We have found that buying Liquer to be only slightly discounted. It use to be a serious discount, but now we can get it for a dollar or 2 more here at home (New York must be pricey). It is not worth the hassle of bringing it home. I would by a hook braclet or something else to remember your time on the island.
I'm thinking that it would depend where you live as to what your savings is for buying liquor in STJ or STT as opposed to at home. Personally, living near northern Virginia we save ALOT of money buying our liquor over in STT as opposed to buying it at home. Plus I think it depends on what you buy also. Cruzan is very expensive here where we live and so is Crown Royal (our two favorite liquors to bring home). I actually think it is a real pain bringing it all the way home but after I get it there I'm really glad we did it!!

We paid 10$ for Cruzan last trip at the grocery store near Redhook, and we pay 12$ for it in Panama City, Florida. We have not really priced any thing else in a couple of years. So it really does depend on the luck of the draw and the liquer prices where you live.Coden wrote:Ok - how much is the rum on island?![]()
You must mean the 2 yr light and dark Cruzan. .....but no way, you're getting ripped! Go to NH, it's $9.99. I recall paying $6.99 in Coral Bay in April.gibber161 wrote:We shopped at the Food Center on St. Thomas before we hit the car ferry and a 750ml of Aged Cruzan Rum was $7.99.Coden wrote:Ok - how much is the rum on island?![]()
At home, the same bottle is $18.00.
