Capn Dan and Ruby's StJ/Lovango - day 4
We woke up to rain this morning. I had heard that there was a large system coming in, so I checked the weather channel. Looks like rain pretty solid until we leave.
So I started to fret. I started thinking about all the logistics to the transfer to Lovango… yada yada.
No wonder I ended up in the hospital. I have got to stop sweating the small stuff. (See what happens later- God does take care of us) We went to Deli Grotto, got a coffee and a yummy hot chocolate chip muffin, and I got on the internet, got the phone numbers I needed, ordered our sandwich for the beach ( the Italian) (sorry no food porn, stress makes me crazy and I forgot the camera in the car), and relaxed as Capn Dan talked me down.
We then set off to Hawks nest rain or not. On the way we decided to stop at all the overlooks for pictures…

then back to the beach. Upon arriving, there were only a few cars in the lot so we scored a great parking spot and a sweet spot on the beach.
Given my mood, we did some chilling before our snorkel. It worked and I soon returned to my STJ state of mind.
The rain began again right before we went in for our swim so we went into the pavilion. (I don’t mind being in the water when it rains, but getting in and trying to get everything on in the rain is not something I wanted to do). The rain soon stopped and we began the best snorkel so far.
We started in the middle and began swimming right; we swam over to, and around, the rocks going to Gibney and Oppenheimer. We then got out of the water and walked along the beach and then re- entered at the reef to the right of Oppenheimer. It was so great! It rained the whole time but that was never a problem. We saw really nice corals (huge stag horns), schools of blues, a large sting ray, two smaller ones, and a cool hairy looking crab hanging on to one side of a purple fan coral. I did see a lot of broken stag horn. I am thinking it was the hurricane. I hope it was not a flock of idiots not being careful.
We came back to the pavilions to eat our sandwich (which were all “claimed” and it was still raining). No one seemed to be willing to share their spot for a few minutes so we could just eat our sandwich. I must say I was a little surprised.
No one was even sitting down to eat, they were just setting up. We ate on a bench in the rain, but under the sea grape trees it was not too bad, and the sandwich was great! I love Deli Grotto!!!
The rain was really coming down by the time we finished, so we decided a trip back to CV1 was in order. (I don't know where I put our pictures of Hawks Nest
)
I love the things that come out of the mouths of children! As we were gathering our stuff, Capn Dan overheard two little boys talking, one said “I have a rash guard”, and the other said, “I have a rash…” How funny is that! We laughed and laughed!
Back at CV1 , we had a dip in the pool, a shower and time to prop up the feet. I feel so much better, refreshed and ready to go to Dinner at Aqua Bistro. I have never been disappointed with Aqua Bistro, and it is on our have to go to list each year!!!
I love MJ and his work! Hi MJ!
We split a crab cake and I had a lime & Coconut to start. Deee-lectable!!!! It is so light and tender and full of flavor. No bread here, I don’t know how they even hold together! Then we also split the Macadamia Nut Crusted Grouper with the mushroom risotto.

(this is one serving cut in half!
)
What a slice of heaven. Word to the wise, unless you are a big eater, split most of MJ’s dishes they are huge! My only regret is that I don’t think we will get to eat here again this visit. We will be at the Beach Bar tomorrow and Monday we are meeting Collette from 6paq in town. We will see though. We might squeeze it in.
Back to CV1, the porch and the Rum. Life is good!
