Help with tickers please!
Could someone please tell me how to set up a ticker?
ok, I'll take this on.....its really easy, there are a number of web sites where you make a ticker and then copy the details of it into your profile on VIOL. I'm using tickerfactory.com for mine,.....here's how that one works:
1. Go to tickerfactory.com.
2. Scroll down the page a bit, then click on an event. I picked "vacation & travel".
3. At the date option, pick the date you go to VI.
4. Below that say what the event is. You only have to put in something like this, "I move to STJ".....it will come out "10 months until I move to STJ" or whenever. Then click on "next".
5. Pick a "ruler", then click on "next".
6. Pick a "slider", then click on "next".
7. Pick the size and background, mine is set to "large" and "light".
8. Then down below that slightly, there's a box under "bbCode". Highlight everything in the box, then right click and copy it (assuming you've got a windows machine, crazy Mac people like my wife don't have a right click).
9. Now you should have VIOL open in another tab, pull up your account profile. The profile option is up on top, near where your sign-in name is.
10. Scroll down to the "profile information" section.
11. In the section called "signature or ticker", paste the stuff you copied from tickerfactory.
12. Scroll to bottom and hit "submit".
Well this should work....I expect its similar for other ticker web sites....if you see a ticker you like on the board here, there's usually an ad above it saying what site it came from.
good luck!

Yeah I know, I kid about the macs but honestly i'm typing on my iPad now, my wife and I both have iPhones and iPads, I spend way too much time on iTunes, we've got apple tv interfacing with our plasma, device by device steve jobs is taking over my life.SOonthebeach wrote:Just updated mine, too- thanks for the play by play.... and I even have a MAC!!
This past week I did a disk cleanup and defrag on one of our XP desktops and it got totally screwed up, has taken me a week to get it working somewhat ok again. I'm getting really sick of windows stuff, thinking of buying my own Mac! At least with apple there's someone to blame if it doesn't work and you can meet a genius at the apple store. With windows everyone points left!
But if only they had a right click.........

Go for it! I am a total Mac believer- and love those geniuses
Right click is so easy on my laptop- two finger tap on the key pad- but I have yet to figure it out on the desktop- I just hold down the control key and click- that does it. I guess that's pretty easy.
Right click problem solved- now go get one!
