Trip Report Day 3 and 4 ( Jeep, Trunk, Windswept and BBar)

Post by JJShaw »

Day 3 and 4.
We decided we would all go into to Cruz Bay and have breakfast there and knock around til time to get the Jeep. First stop of course was St John Spice to see Ruth and Ron, I am always amazed at how well she remembers everyone and even where we have stayed...I have to stop and think at times where we stayed last trip...She mentioned she had not posted our walk of woe pic last time...I had forgotten about it...nonetheless it was good to see her and I knew she would only be in early so we stopped and said hello and introduced her to my son...Walked around a few other shops and ended up having breakfast at JJ's. JJ's is one of our favorite places to eat but we had never had breakfast there...I was pleased and would go there again.

We walked up to Bougainvillea to see if our Jeep was ready...we were about an hr early and had to wait while it was washed and cleaned. We ended up walking over to the Animal care center and visited the animals for bit..They had lots of new kittens and few dogs...we visited..for a bit then back over to get the jeep. Donald Schnell is one of the nicest people I thought...because we had to wait he offered for us to wait upstairs and gave us water...very nice guy...We got the jeep and was on our way to show "son " the Island.

We headed up Centerline rd. stopping at Catherineberg and of course all the look overs on the way to Coral Bay. We drove all the way out to East End and went thru Dreekets Bay. Nice views from up.. We then drove to Little Lameshur walked around but didnt snorkel there this time. Came back by The Tourist Trap...they looked open but had the closed sign out so we didnt stop..I had emailed and they were to be closed that week...boo hoo...:( we went on to Shipwreck Landing, another favorite. We stopped at Skinnys they had a beer or two while I shopped. Once we were through site seeing and showing him the Island we went to Star Fish and picked up a few things that we didnt have have to keep cold. I had brought snacks. I think we ended up just making sandwiches at camp that night. And hung out at the beach there.. It was so nice to walk out on the beach late at night...the moon was almost full so it wasnt easy to see alot of stars. But it sure was nice out...The bugs werent bad as one would think...I am usually a magnet for them..but I had been taking Super B complex and using spray...I honestly dont think but maybe 3 or 4 bites there the whole time..A cooling shower and off to our tents...:)

Sunday:
We decided we would go to Trunk first thing as there no cruise ships in port today...we were early...we were there before they opened...there was us 3 and another couple on the beach at the far end. There was a Rainbow there to meet us...:) Of course we had to snorkel the Cay ( left side) all the way out...Hubby would go around it...but not me...I stop before I get that far...I am chicken...on our way back in we did mange to see and fairly good sized Barracuda...a few times we saw him..prolly 4or 5 ft. I love Trunk..it is definetly one of my favorite beaches and always a must do. Hubby proposed to me once when we were there...so of course it has a special place in my heart. We came back in and took a short break and then it was on to snorkel the right side of the cay. Ive never thought this side was as interesting as the left...but i like it...we did however see a small hawksbill. We then decided we would go on over to Windswept...we had swam over there last time and when we looked at it on Google Earth we realized the beach went further around than we thought. There is actually a small beach between some rocks...we found it...but we didnt stay very long...infact we didnt even sit down...just took some pics...and did get a few interesting shots from it toward Trunk and some neat shots with the water rushing in on the rocks. What a neat little place it is..but,I always feel like Im invading someones privacy when we "swim up" to the Private beaches so we dont stay .. We just swam back over and we came out of the water and decided we would have lunch there...as we usually do...I had to caution my son about the seagulls...last time they swooped down and took the bread right off my daughters chicken sandwich...scared her more than anything...After lunch we decided would snorkel to Jumbie...we didnt make it as the reef was alot shallower than it had been last time we did it...there was actually Coral sticking out of the water...We did however see our first Lobster of the trip...however...the camera had died by this time...so no pics...but needless to say...we headed back to Trunk and decided to shower and I honestly dont remember where we went the rest of the day. I dont think we snorkeled as we were to be at Beach bar at 5:30.

We met Capt. Dan and Ruby, Ski2play and his lovely wife Libby, BarbY and a few of her friends stopped by and we got to meet 54B and his wife Maura. I always enjoy meeting other forumites...So much fun to put a face with a name...:) We had a burger from the Beach Bar...by this time...my son had decided he was moving there...and was busy getting to know a cpl of the locals...lol We went to High Tide where we bumped into BarbY and few of her friends...I gotta tell you...these ladies were having lots of fun everytime we saw them...:) From there we went to Woodys but it was busy busy.. so on to Quiet Mon and even stopped by the Tap room..then headed back to Cinnamon bay for our nitely walk on the beach and of course a cool shower and get ready for a New beach we hadnt been to before the next morning....Notice Cinnamon Bay in the background from Windswept on the last photo..
To be continued....

Great report and photos! You went all over the place in just a few days and glad you were able to visit with some friendly forumites at the Beach Bar too.
I am definitely taking Super B complex on my next trip! If you only got a few bites and you camped on Cinnamon it must work!! :D
Would love to swim over to Windswept and check it out. Loved the last pic! Looks like your son had lots of fun!

Wow- you all are on the move!!! I'm making notes of where you went, and where you ate. I want my days to be like yours!!

msgcolleen - I take a B-complex (sublingual drops) everyday and I can attest that it does help with keeping the mosquito's away.

What wonderful trip reports! I think I'll try the Vitamin B this year, too, since I ALWAYS get eaten alive, in spite of DEET!!! I have actually never been to the Beach Bar, so I'm looking forward to visiting it this trip!

Barb..It was awesome to see you again...I could tell your group was having a blast...I bet they are already making plans to come back..lol

PA Girl, he didnt mind us taking pics at all, I was nervous because we got so close to him.

As far as the Super B complex...I get whelks when I do get bitten...the ones here in NC are mean..and bite like crazy...but I can tell a big difference as far as the bugs when Im there...I still use spray...wipes...whatever...and make sure I take plenty with my...but man alive...I see some people and kids that look like they have chicken pox where they have been bitten so bad...I for one am a believer in Super Vit B complex.. I have also read to take garlic...I have it but its the odorless type...so not sure about that one..

Third Installment soon come....hopefully tomorrow after that 4 letter word...called "work"
