St John in early February

Post by Need2GetAway »

We got back from our first trip to St John in April, and now we desperately want to go again. With our 30th anniversary in February (I know, who gets married in February?!) we're eying up Feb. 4th - 14th.

How is St John in early Feb? Is it very busy? Is it likely to feel as busy as the April break week we did this year? How is the weather?

Thanks for comments. I appreciate it.

We've been going to St John in February for years. The weather is good...mostly rains at night. The pool and ocean water is cooler than this time of year. Having just gotten back from a trip last Sunday I can say it's more crowded in winter. If you're going to be on the island Feb 14th--Valentine's day--you can renew your vows at Trunk Bay at sunset. It is open to all and is very casual.

Thanks Pat! Renewing the vows sounds fun.

We were there during the big school break week for the US Northeast in April (the week before Easter) and I'd prefer to go at a time when there are fewer people there. I wonder how the winter compares to that week in particular. Probably hard to say.

If it is your 30th you should definitely participate in the vow renewal! Stay past the 14th that way you have more time to celebrate that special anniversary! It is more crowded in February but not too much more than what you just saw when you visited. August through early October there is a noticeable difference in population. February is very pleasant weather wise and can be cool at night, most locals have to put a blanket on their beds at night! :)

John and I were on St. John this past February in the window you are considering. It is more crowded than summer, but not too much more so. The water is definitely cooler--I much prefer the summer water temperatures and well as the summer snorkeling visibility.

We had wonderful breezes, great weather (No rain! A real treat after last summer's washout trip), the most beautiful sunsets we have ever had the privilege to observe, and no bugs. I would go back at that time to get out of the NE winter.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
