Compression stockings?
Compression stockings?
We're going to Switzerland and France
next week. One of my legs (calf to ankle) tends to swell up a little sometimes (the other sometimes swells) and I am thinking maybe I should be wearing compression stockings for this flight.
I don't want to over-react but I don't want to be stupid either.
Advice?
I feel too young for this.

Do you have probs. when you fly to SJ? I have had a DVT in my left leg and my valves don't work right in that leg. The keys for me are hydration, an aspirin, aisle seat for leg flexing and elevation, plus get up and walk around... very important. If you have a medical problem that is causing the swelling you should talk with your doctor.
Have fun, I am envious!

The trip to St. John seems to be just short enough.
I don't know what is causing it. I have told some doctors who have kind of blown it off since it is mild. But I do have an appointment for some testing to make sure.
Thanks and I might do the aspirin too. It couldn't hurt.

Hi DJMom,
I to tend to get some swelling in my legs & as well I am a smoker. When we flew to Austalia, I wore support panty hose, as a precaution & my husband wore spandex long john's under our pants. They helped a great deal & I feel made our legs not as tired after the long flight.
We have a very good friend that lives in Austalia & flew back & forth to Canada every two years to visit his Mom. He is not a smoker or over weight & the one year he ended up with blood clots in his leg & couldn't make it off the plane, he spent the next 6 weeks recovering.
We are heading to Portugal in the fall & I again will wear support hose on the plane.
Just another idea.

I'm glad you got the stockings.
Also, start a Bayer aspirin every day.
Am going through this with my Mother, who ended up with a blood clot in her leg and in her lung. This is after a mini stroke.
I do believe that the 2 hour drive down the shore and her not getting up and walking around caused her problems.
Good luck!
