Sherry,

We'll be going down in late September also. Trip insurance is first on our list. We plan on staying in Cruz Bay also. The boutique hotel website is here http://www.cruzbayhotel.com/. Dorm style refrigerators in the rooms are it as far as I can tell. They serve a breakfast so for 4 or 5 days it may work for you.

Thanks everyone for all the responses. Looks like the Hotel won't work out for us. Tommy has decided he wants to get a jeep and we would need reserved parking. Also really need a full kitchen...we are both diabetic and I need to be able to cook and store foods...reg. size fridge. However, we have made some decisions and will be reserving a place soon. This will be our 8th or 9th trip over...lost count. Looking so forward to getting back there. Also going to be planning a 10 night trip back over for next May. Thanks again! :D

I've booked our flights and reserved the car for the third week in September but plan on booking my lodging on the 1st of September (I like to live on the edge). I have been to STJ twice in September/Early October and the weather has been awesome!! The water is so warm. I'm a baby about water temperature :) I love the look of the Boutique Hotel but really wish they had parking :( Quite a few of the restaurants will be closed but no worries.

Sounds like there may be enough people for a forum party!

I’ve been to STJ at the end of Sept. before and yes there is concern for hurricanes but anytime from mid sept - mid nov is my favorite time on the island. The water is always a great temp and the beaches are not crowded at all. The downside of that time of the year is its usually hot and humid some days with the occasional rain shower. Also, some of the nicer restaurants will be closed that time but I’m fine with it. Trip insurance is a must when traveling that time of the year.

As for reasonable condos near Cruz Bay checkout Coconut Coast and Cruz Views. Both have off street parking avail too. I’ve stayed at both for a few nights each as add ons to weekly villa rentals and were great.

Might want to check out Cruz Views....Unit #7 especially. We have stayed here twice & would again. Great views...convient off-street parking..this unit has been updated...nice balcony..air conditioned throughout...a pool & not a bad price. When we're not staying in villas this is where we stay.

Hey Pianogrl,

Do they have their own website? Where is Cruz Views located? And we have stayed at Coconut Coast before...long time ago, first or second trip over. Wasn't that good of a walk into town then and the hill going down to park was a witch. :( That maybe improved now, haven't been out that way in a while.

Like everyone else, insurance, insurance, insurance. We went down first time after hurricane season. We were propmtly kicked off the island by hurricane Lenny. Stupid hurricane came from the wrong direction, gulf, only did that twice in 60 years. Ever since we go late mid October to mid November. You might check out Surf Sound cottage on CB side. No extras, just what one needs.

Cruz Views is nice and inexpensive. You'll probably pay around $125-$150 a night. It's rented through Caribbean Villas rental agency. You can get "last minute" deals if you wait until later this summer to book. Frankly, I wouldn't worry too much about getting a premium unit. We stayed in a standard one for a short trip once and it worked just great. So affordable and close to town.

We went last September and have been the first week of October before. Frankly, I found the weather on this last trip to be awful. Muggy beyond belief and hot, hot, hot. The water was nice and ocean conditions were flat, but just standing outside made me sweat. I won't choose to go back during that time as my first option, though if it were the only time I could go, I probably would.

Philbetm.....Cruz Views is managed by Caribbean Villas & Resorts. Just go to www.caribbeanvilla.com click on St John Villas & scroll through until you get to Cruz Views & whatever unit you would like.
Also their number is 800-338-0987.
They have been very good to work with for us in the past.
Enjoy!
