Cut our trip short :o(

Post by Connie »

I just had this feeling we shouldn't have gone. Mom had a mini stroke 1 1/2 weeks before we went and being her primary care giver, I was nervous as hell.

I did everything I could to make it easy for my brothers, my friends and neighbors and I took out trip insurance and prayed.

Got there last Thursday and by Friday I received a phone call that my Mom had a blood clot in her leg.....worry....

Everything went well until they found another one in her lung and she said to me on the phone "I wish you were here". worry...worry...worry.

By Wednesday morning we were on the phone with trip insurance to get us back to Philly. We got in after 12 last night.

So back 5 days early, releived that I'm home and now can take care of my Mother (she's doing ok), but this was probably the most stressful vacation we ever had.

Oh, another thing....it was our 35th anniversary. One we won't forget anytime soon.

Trip report to come. Not much to it though.

Connie,

Best wishes to your mother for a speedy recovery. Sorry you had to cut your vacation short but even in paradise it would be hard to relax when you have a sick relative at home.

I am sorry Connie. At least you had trip insurance. I hope you are able to reschedule for another, less stressful time.

I agree with a prior poster, you are a good and caring daughter. Happy Anniversary!

Connie - I was so sorry to hear that you had to cut your vacation short, especially since you were celebrating your 35th. Your mother has a great daughter and hopefully you can schedule another trip when things are not so stressful.

So sorry to hear about your early return. I'm sure that you had one ear out for the phone anyway, so probably not such a relaxing or serene vacay. Perhaps when your Mom's situation resolves itself you will have the opportunity to return for a well deserved rest, both physiacally and emotionally. Hope Mom's situation improves. Will keep her in my prayers, as I know this forum's thoughts and prayers work wonders. My DH is almost up to snuff again and; hopefully your mother will be the same soon.

Sorry to read this, but you really did the right thing. Had anything worsened and you not been there, it would have been awful. I'm sure you'll have future anniversary trips :) Good luck on your mom's health.
