Posting Photos in a Message

Post by jimg20 »

I sent my photos to Flickr to include them in this morning's report. My problem is that instead of seeing the photos, we see the links that then brings up the image. How do I get the photos to appear with the text?

Jim,

While on the Flicker page, click on the photo that you want to post, click on All sizes, scroll down to see "Grab Photo's URL" and Copy the url in the text box. Then in your post, click the Img button, paste the URL and click the Img button again.

Hope this helps.

Be sure you remove any letters or numbers directly following .jpg on Flickr. When I right click on my photo and select "Properties" my photo URL always have a ?u=L or something after the .jpg. I just remove it.

If you do your trip report in Word and insert photos and then copy the whole report in to the post will you see the photos or lose the photos? I did my report in Word and am inserting photos, but now I am wondering if this isn't going to work. This is the first time I am doing a trip report, so any suggestions will be welcome.

Linda, that won't work. Your photos have to be hosted somewhere on the Internet, and you have to paste the code for the photos into your post. If you don't have your photos uploaded to a site like Flickr, then I can recommend tinypic.com. It's free and when you upload your photos it gives you the code to paste into your post, including the [IMG] tags! :)
