Neat Sheet: sticky? hot? Great?

Although I have always lived 3-5 minutes from the beach - and have often gone to it on a somewhat daily basis in the summer, I've never had a Neat Sheet! We've always taken a large cotton sheet to the beach - but the Neat Sheet sounds like it might be a good replacement.

I usually see them in dark blue, so I wonder if they get warm or hot and sticky. Are they about the weight of a cotton full-sized sheet?

GREAT!! We loved using ours on STJ and can't imagine living w/o one now. The next time we go down we'll have two!!

We'll let you know- just got ours in the mail yesterday. We ordered it from drugstore.com. There were no retailers in our area that are carrying it, bummer. We ordered the larger family size (14.99). Yes, it is blue (no choice of color offered). Drugstore.com didn't charge shipping or tax if you ordered $50.00. I should add that they carry a zillion products, including salon shampoos/etc at a lower price than the salon that I go to... so I stocked up.

They don't get hot or sticky and the sand just shakes right off which is the best part. Nothing sticks to them...including your skin. The texture is hard to describe & I don't lay directly on the neat sheet. I use it as the underlay for my towels. You know when you get up and the back side of your towel is all wet and sand caked ... not a problem with the neat sheet underneath.

The material is almost like a soft paper. That's the best description, but they are very thin so not nice and cushy like a beach towel.

We purchased one (online) last year before our STJ vacation. Come to find out you can find them at Walgreens and Baby's R Us. You might check with the villa mgmt company you are renting from because the villa we stayed at had two neat sheets so we never even opened ours. It is a great product.

Another good tip .. if you have an extra .. and if you rent a jeep liberty or similar suv like vehicle with the back area. Lay one down in there before you pile in your beach bags, coolers, etc. and when you are all done you can remove it w/ the sand.

We also used the back end of the liberty as the child stripping and putting on dry clothes area. A good idea is to carry some extra water (doesn't have to be bottled) from the villa for rinsing off toes etc before piling back into the jeep.

Lisa - we use ours at the Jersey shore all the time now after buying for STJ.
Especially helpful on those windy days - sand doesnt stick to it so you dont have to do that end of day shake out where you cant ever get all the sand out of a regular blanket.
Lighter weight too for shleping.

I got mine at Walgreens. Love it and would not go without it. I take that back. I would go without it. But you get my drift.

I wrap my Tevas up in my neat sheet and put them all in my fanny pack with my lens defogger. Am I forgetting anything?

Are the Neat Sheets washable, or do you just toss them after a few uses? I will Google and look this up... but I like to hear from the experts!

Neat sheet are darker blue on one side and lighter blue on the other. Amazing how sand doesn't stick to them.

They are fairly waterproof as well. If we are going out snorkelling and it looks like we might get one of those occasional island showers then we put the neat sheet over our gear. We just put our sandals on the corners to hold it down from the wind.

Don't think neat sheets are washable; they are so inexpensive that you just toss it if it gets too dirty.

I throw mine in the washer and hang it over some pool chairs to dry. It only takes a couple of hours to dry. Looks like new. So cheap. You should try one.

I think I am going to have to give the neat sheet another chance after all of your comments. It was very windy a couple of days on STJ, but the darn thing kept blowing all over the place unless we really weighted it down. Also when the tide was coming in and it got wet, the sand did stick to mainly the underside of it. I'll give it another go.

FYI - they also come in two sizes --- regular and family. We have a family size and its green on one side and I think pink on the other. Love it!

Washable and durable. We've used it for 1 trip to STJ and 1 summer and its still going strong.
