place for one night?

Post by 2muchsnow »

Any recommends for one night stay on STJ or STT? After pondering flight options for travel on our November trip. We are considering flying in a day earlier to 1) get there a day earlier, 2) take some of the pain off the 12:30 a.m. redeye flight from SLC.

THought about the cruz bay hotel, but it's booked the nights we would interested.
there are 4 of us.

We frequently spend our first night on St. Thomas. My favorite place so far has been The Best Western Emerald beach. It's convenient to the airport, on a pretty beach and a quick ride to the downtown ferry the next day.

Agree with previous poster. For one night the BW Emerald Beach is a good option if you are flying out of STT. The beach & pool are decent - bed was comfy - basically all oceanfront and it is about a 3 min. cab to the airport. Dinner was delicious and had good service, breakfast left a LOT to be desired. Bar prices varied depending on bartender mood or last tip??? Strange. Not a place I would want to stay long term but for proximity to airport...Thumbs up. BTW...no elevator - if mobility is a problem ask for ground floor. Lugging bags up even one flight was a pain!

We also like BW Emerald Beach. It's right at the airport, has a nice beach, restaurant & bar. Start "limin" as soon as you arrive. 8)

I'd recommend the Crystal Palace on St Thomas. It is a bed and breakfast. The accommodations are not luxurious but comfortable, the prices reasonable and the innkeeper is a delight. (Hear that Ronnie?) You will be picked up at the airport by the innkeeper and you can walk down the hill a few blocks and catch the downtown ferry to St John. NO CABS.

Here is the view from the front porch.

And a view of the living room with the kitchen off to the left looking toward the stairs to the lower level and the rear entrance.

We stayed at Battery Hill Condos for a couple days while waiting for our villa. They have a few units - we stayed in Rainbows End. It might be an option that is within walking distance of Cruz bay!

We fly out of SLC as well. Always a day early, and always stay at Emerald Beach. It's perfect for that!

I like spending the first night on STJ at the St. John Inn. It might be a late first night, but the next day is a lot easier.
