Live 50th Birthday Trip Report - 5/31 to 6/8
Live 50th Birthday Trip Report - 5/31 to 6/8
After a whirlwind weekend filled with our only daughter graduating high school and moving out our house and into an apartment with her boyfriend and a combination graduation and 50th birthday party (DH not me!) we are heading south on I85 to CLT to catch our direct flight to STT.
We are listening to Kenny's "Be As You Are" as we draw closer to the airport.
Game plan for today is flight to STT, pick up the car at Budget and stay overnight at Marriott's Morming Star Beach.
GPS shows 36 minutes to the airport:)

Travel day continued
After a three-hour delay we finally took off for STT. The flight was relatively uneventful, especially since part of DH's birthday present was first class round trip tickets:)
We arrived 6 p.m. to a deserted STT ... our luggage still took forever and there was no Rum Lady
While we waited for the luggage we picked up our car, a soft top Jeep Wrangler, from Budget. We usually rent on STJ but this time decided to give the STT and the car barge a whirl.
I bugged DH to upgrade to a hard top but he wasn't in the mood to spend the extra $10 a day ... trust me this will come back to haunt him!
Our luggage somewhat secure in the Jeep we headed off to Morning Star Beach Resort where we usually stay if we are on STT for just one night.
The main part of the hotel is under rennovation and the staff seemed a bit stressed more than usual.
After checking in we headed to Coco Joe's for a dinner of Conch Fritters, beer, a cheese burger for DH and a chicken sandwich for me ... and oh yeah a beer.
Then it was off to sleep !

Re: Travel day continued
Note to self: Make sure all planned trips arrive early enough to get the free rum shot. Say a few "Hail Marys" to ward off any flight delays, for same reason.JSL wrote:We arrived 6 p.m. to a deserted STT ... our luggage still took forever and there was no Rum Lady![]()
I hope this is the only little hiccup of your trip. Enjoy!
