sun screen and scalp sunscreen?

Post by Hawaii »

Hi - Not sure where to get sunscreen for your scalp? I have not seen it yet in the store I have been. Maybe I need to get it online? My husband has thinning hair so do not want to have him get fried. Thanks so much.

Or try a hat that has UV protection. Available from lots of companies!

John and I use buffs to keep the sun away from our heads. Yes, they look a little dorky but I would rather look dorky than deal with a burned scalp! See them here:

I start early in the season back at home with 8 on my head. This allows me to go out in NC without always needing a hat.

When on island, I'm almost always in a hat, with 15 or higher on my done. While I snorkel, I always wear a do-rag on my head.

My "I have no hair moment" came the day after my 30th birthday when I woke up to a splitting headache from getting my head burnt while bobbing in Cane Garden Bay the day before.

Building the head base tan is a process that needs to start early in the season

My husband is also bald and he's been using Bald Guyz sunscreen on his head this year. It seems to be working pretty well. I got it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Bald-Guyz-Sunscre ... 886&sr=1-2

I rub the same stuff on my head that I rub on the rest of me. Works fine. It never occurred to me that I would need a different sunscreen for my head than the one I use for the rest of my body. I do wear a hat most of the time when I'm not in the water.

coppertone sport spray, not the spray lotion. the target version is just as good too. They are clear and don't make the hair greasy looking. It still is a bit sticky, but whatever.

Banana Boat makes a spray (SPF 30) called Quik-Dry Sport Body and Scalp Spray in an orange bottle. I've used it for years. They sell it at the Doylestown K-Mart.

Thanks everyone.

Bev - Thanks - I was just there the other day but did not look at their sunscreen. Will have to give it a try. Thanks again.
