12 Days to Go!!

Post by Sunny »

First let me say this forum is wonderful!! Thank you to everyone for all of the great information! I have gotten so much information for me and hubby's first trip to St. John. We are so excited!!

I still have 2 questions

The first is Jeep rental - we want to rent one for at least a couple of the days we are there but are unsure of which company to go with - Is there one company that is generally recommended more than the others or are they all just about the same?

The second one is which boat trip to take - I remember reading about one trip that went to the Baths and Jost but I can't find it now - does anyone know which one that was?

Thanks!

Sunny - welcome to the best forum you will find for STJ lovers.

We book our jeep rentals and day sails months in advance so I don't know how this will work with only 12 days to go :?:

Post a picture and we will look for you.

I found out recently that most jeep cos. don't take reservations for less than 5 days. The best you can try is a walk up rental. It may be less of an issue in the off-season, but I'd start calling around to gauge your chances on that one.

It is kind of short notice, but for your question about day sails, your best bet if you don't have a particular one in mind would be to go to Mongoose Junction and find the kiosk that Trevor runs. He should be able to find something to suit you. Also Connections near the ferry dock might be able to find something. We did New Horizons II last year, but booked quite a bit in advance. High season is basically over so you should be able to find something. Have fun!

Sunny,
We used Penn's last trip and were very pleased. Used their parking lot when in town. On our last day, we were able to leave our rental with luggage there, which gave us a few more hours to hang out in Cruz Bay. When it was time to leave, my husband walked back and was driven right to the ferry dock. I would guess that most agencies offer the same.....mia

Sunny-
Have a big time- You are going to love it! I cant wait either- 10 more days. we have done New Horizons twice and enjoyed it both times. If you cant get on with them try ocean runners and just rent a boat and captain for the day.

Looks like we will be able to get on the NH for our boat trip YAY.

One more question about Jeep rental - I have found two places that have rentals avaiable - Hertz and Penn - Hertz is a little cheaper but has no parking in downtown - My question is how important is parking in downtown?

Thanks a bunch to all!

We used Hertz for our first visit, IMHO you would be happier using Penn. We used Penn's parking lot quite frequently in February.....you may not need it as much during the off season....mia

I think you will really enjoy NH II. It is a great day trip and nice overview of the BVI's. It's a good way to see if you would like to daytrip again to a specific island. We personally fell in love with Jost Van Dyke at first sight.
