Birthday cake/cupcake for son's birthday?

Post by Hawaii »

Our 13 year old will be turning 14 on STJ so is there a bakery to get something for him. We plan on going out to dinner but just in case we decide to get cake or something sweet for lunch/after dinner, etc. We will be on STJ in July so will we need reservations? Not sure where we are going but thought maybe Shipwreck if they are not sold by then - not sure how that works. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Lots of places to get birthday cakes, but the hands-down favorite here is Baked in the Sun.
Should not be a problem going to Shipwreck--it's the property that's for sale, not the restaurant. Their lease will stay in place no matter what. Shouldn't need a reservation in July...

I heard that Baked in the Sun stopped making cakes (perhaps incorrectly) so this last trip we just picked up a standard frosted cake at Starfish and it was fine, especially for a 14 year old. Doubt they make them there but it did the trick.

I bought a cake mix and icing and baked a 13 x 9 cake for Boston Mike's wife's birthday. It cost me under $10.

We buy Mr. Fins Birthday Cake at Starfish Market every year. The first year we didn't venture out too far and now the boys won't let me go anywhere else. They want him to have the Lemon Cake every year!! :D
