Hot Mess Trip Report- Day 4- UPDATED

Post by Xislandgirl »

Up early…again.

Breakfast and coffee at the villa, pack up the snorkel gear and boat bag and off to meet Capt John.

It was just the 2 of us. We decided that we would spend less money on accommodations so that we could go on the boat. It was a great theory that didn’t entirely work out thanks to Mother Nature.

Chip wanted to snorkel the Indians. We had done it last year but we didn’t have the underwater case for the camera so he wanted to go back. Captain John had great ideas for the remainder of the day, so we were excited for the adventure.

We headed to Tortola to check in and then we were off on our adventure…until we saw the skies. They were dark and ominous but we were hopeful.

We stopped at Flanagan for a quick snorkel and then decided to move on to the Indians…until we rounded the corner.
You could be barely see the Indians, the sky was black and it was pouring.

We decided that it looked better towards Jost so we headed in that direction.
We didn’t stop at Sandy Spit, it was packed but moved past looking for a spot to snorkel.
We went around the backside of Jost where Capt John knew there a mooring ball. WOW, what a different world. Open water and not anything that we were comfortable snorkeling so we just headed to Soggy Dollar.

It was quiet and that made us happy. We just sat and watched clouds and rain move in over STJ. You could not see anything.
ImageWe were still dry and started to get “Soggy” from the cocktails so we ordered lunch.
Just before lunch came, we decided to move inside, just in case it started to rain.
And it Rained. Poured really. For a long time. A very long time.
A little bit after lunch we decided that it would not let up, so we paid the bill and made our way to the boat.
In the rain
In the heavy rain

It stopped raining on the way back but the sun never came out.
We were drenched and tired and headed back to Harborview for a warm shower.

As we were relaxing and texting the Coral Bay Crew, I started to feel pretty bad. I was sick. Not sure from what. Dehydration. Bad Food. Just a fluke. Who knows? But I was a Nauseous Hot Mess!

I really wanted to head over to Coral Bay but there was no way that I was going anywhere. I had toast, Chip had some Lasagna that we brought with us, and we headed to bed.

Stayed Tuned! Tomorrow is a HUGE HOT MESS DAY!

*********Day 5 is not a HUGE HOT MESS DAY. It was a great day but the craziness that many of you are anticpating will have to wait until Day 6, I got my days confused******************

Not a perfect day but still a good one. Capt John is awesome and we LOVE him! He couldn't control the weather but did everything he could to get us around it. It was just everywhere!

What a pity. Rain during your boat trip and getting sick afterwards. Great that you still can see it as a good day.

Like your reports!

That boat trip kind of reminds me of ours in November. We still had a great day, but Jost is prettier in blue and WillyT is more fun with the curtains up 8) . I'm glad you have such a positive attitude about it.

Ok, now I really look forward to the next reports. That was a real cliffhanger

Sorry about your washout! The past two trips I have had booked with Palm Tree got rained out. Looks like you still managed to have fun anyway!
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
