How long does the Reef Bay Trail Hike (NPS Guided Tour) take? Every minute on the island is precious to us, so I want to make sure it's a good use of many minutes... :? And how have we missed Francis on our trips so far?

Great shots again! I have never made it to Francis, but after seeing these pictures I think it is a must do. Thanks so much for sharing!

Nice, thank you for posting...I love the RBT hike.

Regarding Francis - you both need to make that a stop next time. It is so peaceful there.

The trail took about 2 hours to hike. You meet at the St. John Visitor Station at 9:30 and you pay $6 per person to take a taxi to the tail head off Centerline Rd. It's about a 15 minute taxi drive. The hike ends when you reach Reef Bay & the Reef Bay Sugar Mill Ruins. Then a boat picks you up ($15 each) and takes the group back to Cruz Bay. It's a gorgeous boat ride. You could forgo the boat ride back to Cruz Bay and hike back (uphill), but that would be hard core. You arrive back at Cruz Bay at around 2 pm.

Thanks for the pictures!

How do you think 5 and 7 year old boys would fare on this hike?

Do you pay your $15 pp for the boat at the boat such that you need to make sure you have cash to hand?

Thanks!
Jennifer

The hike isn't too difficult but depending on the weather conditions, the trail can be slippery. The 5 year old might cause me some concern. You pay the $15 when you are on the boat back to Cruz Bay. Yes, you do need to have cash on hand.
