No A/C - in August?

Post by Coden »

Well, I am in a pickle. I found out (realized) last night that our rental unit has no A/C. When I realized this I expressed my concern and ask the owner to please not cash my check as I had to have A/C as I travel with Mrs. Mini Pause...

So now I am back to finding a 1 bedroom unit. I am totally bummed out because I've fallen in love with http://www.vrbo.com/324722 but, I just do not think I can handle no a/c in at least the bedroom. Well, I know I can't and I am sure any woman who is going through menopause would understand.

So, today I will be looking again for units with A/C.

Thnx JJ - yes, I saw that today. I've been poring over 1 bdr units (like I didn't do that all day Friday!) and this one if very tranquil. I see the a/c in the living room and would have to ask about if there is a unit the bdr. It is on my list. :)

Hey PA Girl - no problem, I should have noticed about the A/C, or, lack thereof I should say. :)

The one we stayed in last May, Wintermoon, has ac in the bedroom. Also a full very modern kitchen as I remember you like to cook in. We liked it. No pool though.

I think I would only go with no AC if I were renting up in Catherineberg or high up in Coral Bay. Even then I would want to be sure to have a good fan or two in the bedroom. I have not been in August but have done four July trips without AC--three times in Catherineberg and once way up in Coral Bay. We were always comfortable between the breezes and the fans. The great room at the Coral Bay house got a little warm in the afternoon but not too bad. The Catherineberg houses always stayed cool.

I chose a house with AC for our August visit because the house we are renting faces south and that seems to be the warmest location.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Liamsaunt - Thnx for your input. I think we are going to have to go with a house with a/c, August is just too scary not to do so...back to the drawing board!! :)

No A/C

Post by Knolmom »

Like Liamsaunt, the only time we do no A/C now is in Catherineberg. Years ago, we never needed A/C at any time, anywhere on island but as we get older we find we like to be able to breathe easily when we sleep, and not only the heat but also the humidity is what gets us. Also, we find that a lot of the older houses without A/C do smell a little musty if they have not been in constant use in the off-season, particularly those that afford ample shaded areas, which you will need in August.
Good luck with your search, can't help you much with the Coral Bay area.
