Villa for 3 - any suggestions?

Post by lpowmacback »

Hey all - Hubby, son (young adult) & I will be going back to STJ in March. We've stayed @ Gallows a couple of times (loved it - but a bit too expensive) - and last year stayed @ Bay House in Coral Bay. We loved that villa- it was very reasonably priced, had spectacular views - and very convenient (we could walk down to stores, etc). We'd take Bay House again - but it won't be available in March... Any suggestions? Would like a reasonably priced villa (we are going in high season - so - you know...) - with great water views (as close as possible), house must be very well kept, clean & fresh, light & airy- but I don't need granite counter tops or a viking range ;-)

Thanks friends :-)
Peace,

Lisa

We stayed at Periwinkle Cottage in 2009, modest, clean and very reasonably priced and wonderful views of Coral Bay. Easy access, you turn at Love City Mini Market and then go left. I can PM more pics, but here's the web site. 2 lower level bedrooms, one with A/C, pool and hot tub.

Thanks guys.... both look nice- but we'd like a pool ... A quick look and I've come up with Over the Rainbow, Bombalassy, Fun & Contentment & Pink Conch. Any thoughts? After viewing lots of photos (in the last hour or so), it's becoming apparently clear that a water view is pivotal... I don't want a slice of water - I want a window full of a water view (spoiled by Gallows & Bay House).
Peace,

Lisa

I was just looking at Someday Isle thru Caribbeanvillas.com as it is reasonably priced for high season. Also take a look at the villas thru Privatehomesvi.com, which are also reasonably priced. They are a great agency to work with.

Mill Ridge was exceptional this past March - 2 bedrooms 2 bath- great deck, gazebo & pool- awesome view of Coral Bay -wonderful owners-. Nice breeze. Our son used the air in his BR , but we never did. the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. any questions- please ask us. We also love Reef madness!!! :D

Thanks for all of these suggestions!!

Pool, wifi, A/C in at least the bedrooms & a living room with very large windows with CLOSE views to WATER are very important to me. Going in high season really limits things - I don't want to pay over $4000 for little over a week.

Cant get much closer to the water than Island Time thru Caribbeanvillas.com, but it will book fast for those low in-season rates. One Love also through caribbeanvillas is new, beautiful views, and reasonable also. I bet that one will book fast too.

Yes- you're right about Island Time- and it's not available :-(

BUT - as a family, we've have decided that a pool is not a necessity at all... Expansive water views from at least the living room if not the bedrooms too, internet, laundry facilities, A/C in at least the bedrooms... okay - that's it :-)

If you dont need a pool you might look at Cinnamon Tarn thru Vacationvistas.com. Have stayed there twice You would never need a/c in that house and it has IMHO the best views on the island. Dont know about the $ for Sopra Mare but that is another great spot.
Any house along Contant Point or Maria Bluff has great views and there are quite a few without pools.
Cant get better views of the north shore/ Caneel and STT/BVI than Sago Palms and it has pool, jacuzzi and A/C bedrooms.

Have you tried Rhumb Runners? It's up the hill from Crabby's, so it's near Bay House. We loved it there. 2 bedrooms/2 bathroooms on 2nd floor; kitchen, large dining table, FR area and 1/2 bath on first floor; nice pool; paved road; really nice owners. You can find them on VRBO. We went over Christmas / New Years break so needed something reasonable too. This villa met all our needs.

Here are some of the views from the deck (these pictures really don't do it justice):
