Days 1 Maho, High Tide and chance meeting

Post by FinsUp »

Since the first time we visited St. John the only beach we have really spent any time at is Maho. It is a great beach for us and we just love it..well, who doesn't? So Day 1 is always to Maho. We do breakfast at the villa, pack the beach gear and cooler and off we go. We are early arrivers, usually by 9:30 so we are able to score the perfect parking spot for us and have some time with the beach to ourselves. This year did not disappoint. The weather was spectacular and the boys are getting bigger so they don't need as much entertaining, they provided their own. I must admit however, the entertaining they do want usually comes from good old Dad, he's much more fun than Mom!!

Here they are entertaining themselves... Take note of the construction equipment they have on site. They LOVE bringing their own equipment to create the job site on St. John. If you have ever been at Maho and seen them set up shop, there's no mistaking it's us!!! They are responsible for toting their own carry on and this is what it carries..their equipment. :D

Fins 2 in all his glory!!
Dinner was at High Tide. We have tried to try one thing new each trip we take. Last year it was dinner at High Tide and Fins 1, 2 and 3 loved it so much, it was the first place they wanted to go this year. Location can't be beat and seating was quick. Service however, not so quick. It gave Mr. Fins and I plenty of time to enjoy some Lime in da Coconut!!

Dinner was OK and since it was Sunday and Innervisions was playing at the Beach Bar, I convinced Mr. Fins to head down for one more before heading home. So glad we did because as I was walking up to the bar, I recognized the Captain of the Year himself, Capt John of Palm Tree Charters. Being the shy, introverted person I am (haha) I introduced myself. He and Sue are just lovely and we were so thrilled to meet them before our boat day on Wednesday..we felt like we had known them for years!!

What a great first full day..

Holy cow mama, your little Finnies travel with some heavy duty toys! Where was your family when we were on Maho?

They carried those on? That must have gave the TSA agents a chuckle. Ipod, cell phone, Leatherman (flag that passenger), granola bars, Cat trackhoe and Dozer....wait a minute!

That is some serious beach equipment! I end up spending most of my beach time at Maho, too.

Yes, passing thru security is always a site. We do not travel lightly!! Nearly impossible with these guys  Their carry ons are strictly for them..happy kids for a week make happy parents  Mr. Fins does have his own business and having his boys work for him when they get older is mentioned frequently. They just love it, it's nice to see them have a passion about something at such young ages!!
