Trip Report: STT to STJ
Trip Report: STT to STJ
I just wanted to give a brief report on behalf of my mom and her buddy traveling in the USVI as we speak. I was not bitter...until she called yesterday to let me know that they took their rental on the car barge (something even I am too chicken to do) and headed to STJ. It was then that my little heart sank. I mean mamas are supposed to love us and protect us right!
They were on the first barge of the morning and hit Cruz Bay at about 7:30. On my recommendation had a BLT at JJ's and just watched the "city" come alive. Then they headed out to Trunk. I had recommended Francis but they got a bit leary at the switchback with just a 2WD. Anyway, it was early enough that Trunk was basically theirs to themselves. Sunned and enjoyed themselves and then decided to be brave and head to Coral Bay.
They made their way to Skinnys and had what my mom deemed the "best damn burger" of her life. Now, I know there is varying love for Skinnys here but I think the sun, salt and pure hunger make it the best burger to some!
They headed back to Mongoose and did a little shopping and were back on the 4something ferry to STT! I am not bitter, I am not bitter, I am not bitter! 205 days, 205 days, 205 days.....
When we last spoke they were cleaning up and heading to dinner and drinks at Iggys.

This is her 2nd trip to STT and he 2nd day trip to STJ. The first trip they were beholden to the taxi, so this was really her first chance to explore STJ on her own a little.
She'll be heading with us in 205 days (who hoo - am I the only one who gets excited this far in advance?) and staying on island for a whole 8 nights!
I know she will love it even more when we can settle in and stay for the week +!

That's great, Flip Flop. My parents are visiting STT/STJ for the first time for part of our trip this year. I can't wait to show them around! They are so psyched to go--my Dad got his snorkel gear on Saturday, and was proudly modeling his dee-rag around the house. They are really a hoot.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

I think you hit it on the head, FF. I've definitely had better burgers (the best burgers com off of my grill!flip-flop wrote:They made their way to Skinnys and had what my mom deemed the "best damn burger" of her life. I'm glad that Mama Flip Flop is have a great time. Don't be bitter. Just make sure to send her pictures of Trunk and Skinny's when you are there to make her wish she were back

That is so sweet, that your mom did the barge that takes courage........lol
My mom was the one that introduced me to the VI's and most of the islands.
I was lucky my parents worked for the airlines growing up so I got to go to STT and STJ and even STX for a few days every so many months.....
I always swore I would live there and even applied to the university and got accepted.........
I love when you get to hear about loved ones experiences on island and you take away a different perspective............

FF - it's pretty cool when you can enjoy STJ with your parents. We took mine to STJ a few years ago (they have never travelled anywhere). I had to share this pic. We took them to the Caribbean, and this is what they turned into

Vicki - they are so cute. Mama Flip-Flop had a time at the end of her trip to STT so we may be lucky to get her back on a plane but she has 6 months to recover.
The parking lot where they were staying flooded from the monsoon rains they got there Sunday night. Ended up having to move to the Holiday Inn for the last night of their trip. It was not a pretty site (the Holiday Inn was fine) but the Absolute Paradise villas left a LOT to be desired.
She did say their daytrip to STJ was the best day of the week!
