JB at MinuteMaid Review

Post by Ron in South Texas »

Wow!!! That was FUN!! :D I envy you folks in Boston when JB plays Fenway. Forty-three thousand people doing "Fins" was wild!!!

My oldest son (college baseball player) wanted to get into the ballpark as soon as the gates opened. We had seats on the field and he wanted to spend as much time on the field as possible. So, my eldest and I got into the ballpark at 5:30...2 1/2 hours before the concert. So we took a few photos, walked around the park, bought some t-shirts, got something to drink, used the porta-potties in left field, payed homage to Jeff Bagwell by bowing to first base.... Everyone else joined us about 7:00.

Our seats were just about where Craig Biggio plays second base, So, my son ws calling all of his baseball buddies to brag about where he was sitting.

We went to look at all the crazies tailgating before going into the park. Everyone was very well behaved...that was a shock. A little drunk, but well behaved.

Here is a link to some photos:

Encore

24. Southern Cross
25. Another Saturday Night
26. In My Room
27. Tonight I Just Need My Guitar

Being on the field was great. Looking up at 40,000 peeople in the stands going nuts was quite a rush. I can just imagine what baseball players feel when they play in front of that many energized people.

$400 for tickets
$50 for gas
$90 for t-shirts
$100 for food and drinks
$0 for the hotel (see below)
JB at "The Juice Box"...priceless!!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express close to the park. We checked in, got our keys, hauled our junk to the room and went to the concert. At 2:45 a.m., someone started banging loudly on our door. It was security!! I opened the door carefully (I looked through the peephole and saw there shirts). They said "we are just checking to see if someone is in this room...sorry)" At 2:45 in the FREAKING Morning??!!! :x Needless to say, I was not happy.

The explanation was that we were not officially checked into the room. Someone did not put us, correctly, into the computer system. So, the room was free and apologies were given and accepted. I would not have been so understanding except for the fact that the people at the front desk were different and it wasn't their fault,

Anyway...except for that, we had a wonderful time and Jimmy was his awesome self!!!

Cypressgirl...I'm sorry you were stuck in Lubbock and didn't get to go. :( I hope your wrong meds finally wore off!!

Sounds awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!

JB's Boston concert is at Gillette Stadium this year - I have tickets for the Saturday PM show and cannot wait :!: I would have loved to have seen him at Fenway, but those tickets were really tough to get since Fenway is relatively small. We're considering renting an RV for the tailgate party... can't wait!

I may not have another trip to STJ planned, but at least I have the concert to look forward to :D

Went to the concert & it was awesome!! We loved it. How were the floor seats? Floor seats popped up for me on Ticketmaster first on the 29th row but I was afraid I would not be able to see well over the parrothead hats, so we were on the first level up -- it was pretty far away, but we could see good. We had a blast! Ready for another one! Wish I knew if he was going to perform at Jazz Fest or not. I would be there if he was, but he is not on the schedule, so he may do a surprise show on stage with someone else.

cruiserkcs The floor seats were great. We were in section R about just to the first base side of second base row 18. We were still 300 feet away. :( We didn't have any trouble seeing JB.When we got tired of standing up, we sat down and watched the show on the Jumbotrons. Some of the people around us were just as entertaining as JB. One poor lady got thrown out before the concert because she was throwing up and another lady got a severe scolding from the police but, she was allowed to stay. 8) My party was very well behaved and didn't have to be scolded. :P
