Beach Advice

Post by Lonepalm »

We are staying in Coral Bay and I would like to go to a beach our first full day on the island. I am looking for a nice sandy beach with shade or umbrellas and water to just float and take it easy. FYI May 28 with no cruise ship on this day.

Gibney or Maho, very sandy, plenty of shade...really, any of the North Shore beaches would fit your specs and you can just take Rte 20 off of Centerline to avoid going all the way back over to Cruz Bay.

From Coral Bay, Francis is so easy to get to and one our favorites! Turn on North Shore rd (rt 20) from Centerline! ENJOY!

I second the Francis advise.

Another good choice is Vie's Beach. Go east toward the east end. You'll see her food stand on the left and her beach on the right. She collects a small charge ($2 or $3) and she has lounge chairs for you.

eeny meeny mieny mo! so many choices- kind of depends on if you want bathrooms available, food/drink, etc as well! Our last villa actually had an beach umbrella to take to beaches as well as the standard beach chairs so that was something new we typically didn't have available.

No cruise ship days are a great time to hit Trunk Bay. Take a left when you get to the beach and keep walking down. It's usually pretty quiet and so beautiful. On the Coral Bay side, Little Lameshur is also wonderful and well worth the effort to get there.

I also put my chair in the shade, so my advice because of the direction the beaches face is to go to Francis for the first half of the day, go eat lunch, then head to another beach for the rest of the day. Hawksnest has some good shade in the PM. If just going to one beach and you do not want to bring food, then Trunk is great.

Thanks for all your ideas. I am thinking about trying Trunk Bay. I want to take advantage of no cruise ships. Since we will be near Cruz Bay I might hit a grocery store after the day at the beach before heading back to Coral Bay.
