Fab kids!!! Love you including the pix of the travel day! We are looking foward to takeing the truck loving grand son. We live on the beach, so when do you think STJ becomes special enough to take him? Being on the Gulf Coast we want it to be noticably special for him. We think 6 years. What do you think?
For a late night food option : Actually Sibs on the Mountain is a 10 min or less walk from Mafolie or a 2 min cab ride - they have great food until very late - a rockin' bar scene and is a venerable and eminent nightspot - since 1926!
The rooms at the Mafolie do vary widely - it has been built, rebuilt and renovated sporadically over many years - I have always found them to be clean however - the view and pool are legendary and very hard to beat in STT.
For a one night stay - late arrival - 1st timer - I agree it sounded unsatisfactory - did the Mgmt offer any recourse or help?

Capt - I think 6 is perfect! They are great travelers by that age and they totally get it! My kids just love seeing their feet
Not something you get on the east coast!
Exit - They actually told us about Sibs but said it wasn't really a kid-friendly venue, esp. after such a long day. We made due, it really wasn't a huge deal. If it had been just us grown-ups we would have ventured out for sure.
I think if we'd pushed it the kitchen of the restaurant would have made us something. I don't like to inconvenience others though. In fairness, the place was adequate. We didn't complain to management 1) we hadn't paid for it and 2) we were only staying one night and 3) the guy who checked us in was totally clueless. He couldn't find the room so I figured the chances of him figuring out the TV were slim to none.
Pool and views were outstanding.
