Maho Bay Construction

Post by Paul »

I just read in STJ Tradewinds that work was beginning at Maho Bay to demolish the old pavilion and construct a new picnic-pavilion-restroom facility. It is supposed to last 120 days and cost just under $500,000  ! Personally, I like Maho just the way it is. I wonder how disruptive the work will be. I will be sorely disappointed if I am unable to enjoy my favorite beach on my June trip. Locals....please keep us posted.

Good news, there's a reason to invest. The last I heard was that their lease expired on July 31, 2012.

Sorry, Rick. I'm not sure if our stories are related, but I was referring to the public beach, not the campground. I tried to post the link, but was unsuccessful. If you pull up the STJ Tradewinds page it is the second story.

The green building was being taken down this weekend - restrooms and a parking lot are planned in that area - the NPS is responding to the overusage and wants of visitors
