CAP Vehicle Rental?

Post by RickG »

We booked last minute and could not get our preferred vehicles on STT. So we're having Caribbean Villas book a vehicle for us. They are working with CAP Rental that only books with CV? Any experience with these folks? The last time I rented a vehicle through CV I ended up with a dead vehicle in Coral Bay.

Have you tried Amalie Car rental - 774-0688
I was by there this morning and it looked like they were putting quite a few new cars in the fleet.
I have never heard of Cap Rentals -- is it on STT or STJ? It is not listed as such in the VI phone book.
2 other STT options you may not know of :
Firstrentacarvi.com -776-3730
Auto Depot car rental - 776-3800

I used them in 2009. We got a very inferior vehicle at first. The roof leaked (it was raining) and the window would not roll up. They said they'd come out to CV at 8 am to give us a new one and they were there at 8 am! Then the back of the new vehicle met up with a small tree. :? My trip insurance covered the whole mishap. CAP was not as speedy about getting needed paperwork for the claim, yet they came through and were nice about it. So, I think they are fine.

No time for shopping these days, Dependable did not work out so I just punted to CV. Discount and Amalie on STT have worked in the past.

sea-nile, I expect a challenge. We're coming over on a Tuesday and may get the last pig standing until the Saturday turnover. If it's that bad I'll just call around while we're on island. I'm actually more worried about the tires and battery than leaking or cosmetics.

Thanks for the tips. The young one got us a reservation with Amalie for a sweet new 2011 Wrangler 4-door.

I feel a bit odd, working too much to do any real planning and obsessing. After 20+ visits we should have a clue and be able to go without planning... enjoy some of that planning annuity.

When are taxes due?
