pmk, looks to me like you are at Shipwreck Landing, not Island Blues in that photo.

I must be losing my mind -- I guess I need a vacation, liamsaunt. You are correct. It's from Shipwreck Land. I'll edit the post.

Hmmm, I wonder where I should go for vacation? :)

Here's an even better picture from Shipwreck Landing.

Two of our favorite places are:
Miss Vie's (conch fritters)

and Candi's Ribs:

Hi mindehankins (or anyone else who might know)--what is that sauce served with Ms. Vie's conch fritters? Is it ketchup?

Hi Rky! It's some variation on a cocktail sauce, not just catsup. Absolutely delicious to us. And I LOVE her rice with meat sauce, and her tarts!
Can't WAIT!

I was looking through my flickr for something else last night and realized I had a lot of photos from Asolare that I had forgotten about. So, here is a food tour of Asolare.

Cocktails before dinner (It’s a requirement here. Literally. They make you wait in the bar before they’ll seat you, even if you arrive at opening.)

In the back, a tequilatini. I forget what the pink one was. It was mine, and I didn’t like it. I don’t like most cocktails because they are too sweet:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2519797288/" title="asolare cocktails by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2337/251 ... 339ebc.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="asolare cocktails"></a>

Another tequilatini in the back, and in the front a moondrop (or moonglow?). It’s a grapefruit-rosemary cocktail. Very interesting and not too sweet:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/3284816866/" title="128 Asolare cocktails by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3557/328 ... 52a1de.jpg" width="500" height="351" alt="128 Asolare cocktails"></a>

Third round of cocktails (obviously consumed in three different meals!). This was an Obama mama on the left, and on the right, my favorite “cocktail,” a glass of cold white wine:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/4857959073/" title="asolare cocktails by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4140/485 ... dbef49.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="asolare cocktails"></a>

Tuna tartar app. I think that was a thai red curry sauce with it:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/4858582230/" title="asolare tuna tartare by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4102/485 ... d8df86.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="asolare tuna tartare"></a>

Shrimp tempura:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2519798182/" title="asolare shrimp by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2387/251 ... 219f3d.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="asolare shrimp"></a>

Fried calamari with sweet soy and wasabi tartar:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/2518978591/" title="Asolare calamari by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2276/251 ... 4f9fb1.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Asolare calamari"></a>

Another version of their calamari. This one was calamari two ways, fried on the top and curry poached underneath:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/4857958499/" title="asolare calamari by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4102/485 ... 85bde6.jpg" width="500" height="333" alt="asolare calamari"></a>

Tuna entrée with sweet soy and crispy rice noodles. This is my favorite dish at Asolare:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/4857962091/" title="asolare tuna 2 by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4134/485 ... 9f00a1.jpg" width="500" height="320" alt="asolare tuna 2"></a>

Mahi with lentils and green beans:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28539958@N00/4858580550/" title="asolare mahi by liamsaunt, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4117/485 ... c73710.jpg" width="500" height="362" alt="asolare mahi"></a>

It's hard to say what my favorite restaurant is on STJ, but La Tapa certainly is one the short list. Here's is their gazpacho, fresh and savory.

I am not a big chocolate fan, but that waffle dessert looks amazing!

Here are a couple more from La Plancha (in the old location). "El Guapo"
