Jost Van Dyke Fans?

Post by parafins »

I will be visiting Jost for the first time in May.I've noticed that there are a lot of fans on this forum that like Jost.Is it the bar scene, layed back feel,or the beauty that draws you to it?I'm going there to enjoy the beaches, snorkel, and enjoy a couple of painkillers. One painkiller might put under the table{I'm a lightweight}I have a feeling the money I put out for the passport, and ferry ride might be well worth it!Parafins

BIG cruise ship at White Bay today!!!!! - even visible on the Amarosa webcam and of course the Soggy Dollar cam too.
Might be more than a bit crowded!

We've been over the last two Augusts and had a blast w/ Capt Phil. That said if someone told me they didn't get the fuss i would understand. It's pretty dead lunchtime in August. But it's a nice sail, good snorkel stop, good food etc. Got to talk to Foxy both times and hear his jokes.

Everything you said- laid back, beautiful and easy going beach bars- what's not to like! You will love it. Mic's painkillers are the BEST!!

Three things(people actually) come to mind when I think of Jost Van Dyke...Ivan, Foxy and Mic! I think a nilla killa is a painkiller made with vanilla rum!! I prefer the original recipe myself!

White Bay is honestly one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to. In my opinion, it tops even Shoal Bay East on Anguilla because White Bay has some shade under palm trees. It can get a bit rowdy depending on when you visit, so if you are not a partier or really don't drink you may not "get" the atmosphere. It's a great limin' beach. Plus, the views of other islands from Jost are to die for.

My favorite at Soggy Dollar is the Mango Painkiller. The original is still pretty darn good, but that Mango one keeps me coming back! I cannot replicate it.

Note that Foxy's is not on White Bay. It's in Great Harbour, just around the bend. No idea how long it takes via land; I've only traveled between the two on water.
