STJ and JVD
STJ and JVD
We are wanting to spend week on JVD and 4 days on STJ . Would like to start the vacation on JVD - has anyone done this with ferry schedule from STT?
Here is a link to the ferry schedules. It really depends on the day and flight times. You should feasably be able to get to Jost from STT although you may have to go to Tortola first and catch another ferry.

Here is the link to the ferrys to Jost that leave from STT. As you can see, your flight would have to get in pretty early.

Going "home" again October 26th!
What Brenda said.
Prior to finding out that we were expecting our bundle of joy this coming June, we had planned to spend two weeks in the VI-- 1 week on Jost and the second week on STJ.
Both a lack of leave (needed for baby) and some early pregnancy complications forced us to change and ultimately cancel our plans. All is well now though! Except for the fact that we didn't get our VI fix this year!
However, in planning and researching our trip it became abundantly clear that the flight schedules from the mainland seriously hindered our ability to get to Jost on the same day of arrival -- even if we were willing to go to Tortola first.
The only way we were able to swing it was to stay the first night on STT and leave first thing in the AM on the Red Hook ferry to Jost via STJ (there is an AM and a PM run).
The ferry schedule from Tortola is much more frequent (similar to the frequency of STT to STJ) HOWEVER, keep in mind that if you opt to go for the Tortola ferry, then once you arrive on Tortola you have to take a cab to a different ferry terminal on Tortola to get the ferry to Jost. This adds time and money as well as inconvenience to the process. Although you will certainly have more options.
So the way it worked out for us (planning wise) was to fly to STT, stay one night on STT. Catch AM ferry to Jost via STJ; arrive around 10:15 on Jost. Drop luggage there, then plan to take a ferry from Jost to Tortola to do some grocery shopping and stock up on stuff for the place we were to be staying and then ferry back. We considered stocking up on STT, but we found that concept to be more trouble than it was worth.
Another option we considered for provisioning was Bobby's MArketplace whcih will allow you to order stuff in advance and they will deliver from Tortola to the JOst ferry dock for you to pick up. I was very impressed by their selection.
We had hoped to provision on Jost, but there are VERY limited options and most folks on island go to Tortola or STT for their goods.
Some day we hope to resurrect our postponed itinerary with our soon to be born mini-gromit.
Hope this helps!
