Tracfone

The final countdown has begun!!! 70 days! Starting to get the little details taken care. Looking for feedback from anyone who has used a Tracfone on STJ (specifically the cheap 9.99 all in one that comes in a box at Walmart and Target). Can't decide whether to take a chance on using that or just biting the bullet and paying roaming charges & minutes on our regular cells (our cell company considers the USVI to be international).

Thanks for any feedback you might have.

We use a Tracfone on St.John and have no problem. I'm not to sure if you will get voice mail though. We didn't 3 years ago when there was an emergency at home. We never got the message. Since then no one has tried to leave us a message so I don't know if that has changed.

Tracfone worked fine for us last Nov.

Can't answer anything about the tracfone, but we are at 70 days as well. Do you think it will ever get here?!!!

Unfortunately, that's so true! I read this board, as well as any others I can find, every day. Just adds to the anticipation!

Agreed !!!!

We changed carriers and had Altell this past trip. We were able to text with no problems. However we had a cpl of our ATT phones left from when our contract expired(their service here is crap). We just bought the prepaid card thing for one of them..I think we got unlimted for 3 bucks a day

Thanks for the input everyone. Think we'll give the Tracfone a shot. We'll have our regular phones with us for backup!

picked up a $30 AT & T Go phone and it got great reception everywhere - it costs $2 per day to use it - unlimited talk and text - and you don't get charged for the days you don't use it - good luck and have fun!

Thats the one we had...I couldnt remember for sure how much it was..
